Location: Missouri | I hate crunches. I hate them, I hate them! But I've gotta whip my post baby bod back into shape and get some core strength back! So if anyone has any specific exercises they'd recommend OR workout videos that are "fun" and one would actually want to stick with - recommend away! |

Location: Southeastern Idaho | Jillian Micheals 30 day Shred is how I get started back up in the fall/winter...3 great 25 minute workouts. The exercises are easy and I find I use them outside of the video during the busy spring/summer season. |

I have a friend who's doing this now and she's mentioned feeling like she's going to vomit after workouts....soooo I've been scared to try it. Is it not really that bad?? |

Location: Missouri | My hubby & I are doing T 25. It focuses on core strength & balance. There are like 8 different DVD's and it works your whole body! I sweat my butt off, but feel good after doing it. I think it has really made a difference in my riding! |

I have been trying to convince my husband to do T25 with my foreverrrrrrrr. I've heard it's tough so I know I'll need accountability if I buy the DVDs lol! |

| It's not a high intensity workout, but I absolutely love yoga! It has really helped with my core strength and balance, and I can tell a difference in my riding. It has also helped with some soreness that I have in my hips. Highly recommend it! |

I love me some Jillian - Its that hard only if you push yourself that hard Try planking ... It will work on your whole core. You can step up the intensity by using stability balls, lifting one foot off the ground at a time, etc.

Location: Oklahoma | Ryann Pedone and Dena Kirkpatrick did some really good stability exercises on a Racer's Edge episode... I need to do them more often! Planking is great and I go a lot of core exercises laying on my back with my feet in the air (butterflies, sissors, bicycles, etc). I also try to watch tv on a stability ball when I'm home alone. I remember someone saying they used their's at work in place of desk chair... that's my next goal! |

Planking is the best way there is to work your core. Quick - you don't need any equipment and tons of variations.
I FREAKIN hate planks!!! (but they work!) |

Location: Missouri | It does have a lot of high impact moves, but they also have a modifier you can follow. I just started out doing what I could & after a few weeks I can pretty much keep up. My husband likes doing it! He gets all lean & muscled up & can eat everything under the sun while doing it! |

Location: Alberta | You can engage your core at anytime no matter the exercise you are doing....there are tons of exercises directed at the core! Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred is intense but, pushing yourself gets results. Are there workout classes in your town you could join? Those type of atmosphere keep me more motivated then doing it alone at home. |

Location: Missouri | Thanks for all the suggestions! I do have a stability ball so I could start using that and planking as well. Kettle bells are a good suggestion too!
There are lots of Zumba places around here but I really cannot dance to save my life even just for fun. I'd dread going so I would skip :/
I may text my friend and see if I could come over and try the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred with her for a few days and see if I like it. I've been doing the a bikini body mommy 4.0 90 day challenge on Fb but I'm getting bored with it :/ what I really need is someone to workout with. My husband wants to get into shape also, but his gym buddy keeps flaking out on him so he wants to cancel his membership, which is where I'm thinking I MIGHT be able to convince him to do T25 with me. He's not afraid to be 'mean' and tell me to keep pushing myself. Lol! |

I don't think so. Mind you I am in my 40's and no skinny minny for sure and I can handle levels 1 and 2. I got to Level 3 I could do parts of it but since I have had back troubles in the past I can't do level 3 for any amount of time. Definitely want to start at level 1 and work up. I have a friend who is an avid runner start at level 3 and about killed herself. :)

This. It kicks your butt but it's only 25 minutes.
Yoga and Pilates are great for strengthening your core. |

I am not sure why! I had to laugh though, it was really funny and I remind her of it often. ;) |

| Core work on the stability ball is what I have found to be effective for me. I did a class at Life Time doing regular crunches on the ball, feet on the ball hands on the ground and pulling ball in with your feet into a pike position then rolling ball back out to a flat plank, laying with back on the ground, feet on the ball, raise your butt up and roll the ball in and out- it hurt to cough the next day and we only did about 12 reps of each exercise. |

| I also have a post baby body and need to get in shape after for racing. (I am the one who's office bought the stability balls in place of the chairs.) I do zumba (I am always out of step, but I brought a friend who is the same and we are in our own corner doing our own thing together.) LOL
I wanted to try Success in the Saddle videos designed to strengthen the core for dressage riders but will help anyone who rides. It is recommended on Heather Smith's Barrel Racing Tips. I still haven't purchased it, though. |
