I have been riding now for about 2 years. The horse I've been riding is not easy. He's peculiar. Particular. And won't hesitate to dump you if you tick him off. Nothing violent. He just hops a few times to get you off balance then spins to the left out from under you. He's done it to me three times now. Twice at home, once in public.
May 9th we were at a decently larger show (260 something I think). Had a great first, then he did the hop hop spin move on me. I landed face first (luckily my air bags caught the brunt of it lol). Once I finally caught my breath I got up and walked out. Didn't get back on right then. Had him looked over to make sure it wasn't soreness. Gave him a few days off. Rode twice the following week. Didn't haul anywhere that weekend. Rode 4 times the next week. Didn't run again. Rode twice this week and planned on a small fun show as our first run back. We don't work the pattern during the week, so this was our first time seeing them since he dumped me.
Poles class was up first. This horse LOVES his poles. I felt like I was gonna barf. Or cry. Or pass out. Maybe all three at once. But I did it. I went in there and made a run. Lots of bobbles, but I turned him loose after that last end pole and he booked it home without incidence. I cried like a baby. Happy tears!! Cooled him out and tied him back to the trailer.
The barrels class wasn't nearly as stressful. I was alright for that. The ground was deep and loose and he stumbled heading to the first so I just let him cruise. It was clean and smooth.
AND I LIVED!!! lol. Just wanted to share my self high five moment. I've posted before about a very bad lack of confidence in myself. It's been rocky. When I came off, it ruined me. I was so nervous. SCARED. TERRIFIED. But I got back on and I went back out there. I DID IT.

Congrats! And just remember, it is all about baby steps.
Thank you! Baby steps are the story of my life. Lol. Been taking things really slow since I started. I wanted to learn how to do it correctly rather than just be able to kick and pull. It's improved my relationship with my very difficult horse mightily by just being able to follow his 'rules for riding'. He's a very particular animal. Lol. Thanks again!

And it would be nice to have the video from this last run. Unfortunately, someone ( who shall not be named (myson), forgot to mash the button on the video camera. Nice run. Way to hang.
