 Dancing in my Mind

Location: Eastern OH but my heart is in WV | So over on my other post I used the wrong form of a word and then laughted at myself after I realized what I did. I clearly know the difference between a "gait" and "GATE" but point blank I screwed-up. Give me points though, at least I spelled "gait" correctly...that is a huge accomplishment for me.
SOMETIMES, I misuse words but the much larger problem is.... I HAVE A SPELLING PROBLEM!!! There i admitted it for the whole BHW to know. I fully acknowledge this about myself.
Want to know the real kicker, I majored in English in college. I was forever getting papers back with "Would of been a grade higher if not for spelling errors." Back when I did it all the time, I use to love to write and I was smart and witty but my spelling... well it has ALWAYS sucked. I had a speach problem when I was very young and I truely believe it affected my spelling abilities because of how I sound things out. I now have a good job, but far, far away from my once field of study. I have a mid-management position and on special days they even let me play boss of the entire building. I think I am a kind person and I like to make people laugh... so much so that my coworkers CAN'T wait to point out my spelling errors in memos. I have become FAMOUS around work for my misspelling and misuse of words. I use to let it really bother me... but I have come to realize if I misspell or misuse a word in a day there are WAY, WAY, WAY worst things that can happen in life. So I try, I REALLY, REALLY do try to spell correctly and I read over my stuff a thousand times but on occassion even spell check gets very mad at me.
My most famous mistake was on display for the whole world to see. We put on a nice play every year and each department is asked to decorate a certain area of the building. PROUD, PROUD me got the front doors! The grand entry to it all.... So to welcome everyone in for our production of the Wizard of Oz ....In BIG GLITTERED LETTERS I put...
LOINS... & TIGGERS.... & BEARS... OH MY!!!!!
Yeap, that one is still talked about to this day and there are lots of pictures to remind me.... I AM DENISE AND I HAVE A SPELLING PROBLEM!!!
God has blessed me with may other abilites though.

If it wasn't for spell check and auto correct on our phones, I think there would be a lot more people that have that same problem!!! |

I didn't even think when I posted the that you might think that I meant it to be about your post or about you at all. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings, because that wasn't my intention at all. It just gets old seeing someone creeping on posts just so that they can give someone a hard time.

My dad is one of the smartest people I know but he can't spell to save his life, and never had phonics, so he mispronounces a lot of things. Nucular, nitergen, pacific (for specific). It's just part of his unique charm. LOL |

I am going to admit that I, too, was confused.....and in all fairness, maybe the person didn't read past the first sentence.....
Regarding spelling....I am an excellent speller but a p*ss poor typist......that's my story and I am sticking to it.........

Location: Eastern OH but my heart is in WV | To be COMPLETELY honest, when I read the first poster's response about "gait" I started to respond about "I bet you just read the title" but I thought it might come across rude, so I did not post it. It was not until another person posted about "gait" and "gate" that I realized my stupid mistake. Then I just had to laugh at myself. I really do know better and I just took the first post as an attempt at humor.
My spelling really has been an issue my entire life and I use to get VERY embarassed by spelling mistakes but I have come to realize it the worst thing in my day is I misuse or misspell a word, then I have had a blessed day. I was not upset about the other thread but just making light of my short coming. |

It is the running joke in the office, my coworker, who was a 4th grade spelling bee champ, I ask him all the time how to spell words that even spell check goes
He even brought in his old, tattered ribbon and hung it on the wall with a sign that says "Promoted to Denise's personal spelling assistant."
So NO tattoos would not be a good idea for me. |

I got what you meant and so did every other person that read the whole thing, either to try and offer help or learn from the helpful replies. I am pretty stringent in proofing my work but on a barrel racing forum.... who cares?
Yep, there are bigger things to worry about for most people. rite watever u ned to. :) |

| Geez, I hope I'm not the one you all think was RUDE. I was just trying to explain to the other poster what the OP was meaning. My bad but I didn't think that other poster meant to be rude either?? (Unless there were more posts later, I haven't read it lately). |
