I have a rescue mare with these lines. Rumored to be carriers of the large heart gene. Are these lines desired in the barrel racing world still? The mare is older and after I have her recovered a bit more I will be looking to re-home her and hopefully with an experienced breeder desiring lines such as these. Can you tell me of any "success stories" of similarly bred horses in the barrel horse world? So far all I have found are successful race records and only two horses with Princequillo bloodlines in barrel racing. I know zenyatta has similar lines, but I haven't heard of any horses closely related to her heading to the barrel pen as of yet either.

Princequillo would be the large heart gene, but it depends on the descendants of her.

Being that far back I doubt she still has it but if her pedigree is

Princequillo produced a stud, the stud produced a mare, the mare produced a stud, etc the heart gene should still be intact

Vets can do an ECG to determine if the horse infact has a large heart.

There were quite a few successful race horses out of Princequillo, a book I have on secretariat went through the genealogy and successful prodigy before telling the story

I had a mare back to princequillo and i loved that mare. She had a rough life but she had a big heart.
