Has anyone had any experience with horses that have nerve damage?
My gelding who I posted on previously about not flexing to the right side....has a lump in his neck upwards towards his poll. Vet believes it could be nerve damage since he was through a pretty tramatic experience in a feedlot previous to my ownership. I'm buting him twice a day for a week, and he will see the vet again within the next 2 weeks for x-rays, and another adjustment from the chiro.

No experience with it but I would be looking at acupuncture and perhaps message Della and get her opinion on essential oils as she has been having good luck with the oils and has been experimenting on horses

We had a mare in race training who had nerve damage to her face. She had an ear that flopped and a lip that drooped bad she couldn't close it at all. We kept a magnet on her poll for a few hours a day and it did help her she was able to move her ear again and her lip a bit better.
Yes, I have a gelding now that has had several instances with traumatic muscle/nerve damage, first one included a dragging front leg, where somehow he fell and banged so hard he damaged the brachial cephalic nerve, the latest was owner induced, (me) combined with some of his own shenanigans that he is very sore on his left neck and right elbow. (right leg drug this time) I've never had accupuncture before but that seems amazing and then I followed with a deep tissue massage and chiro adjustment. The chiro advised several stretches to keep the muscles loose and to strengthen those that need it. This horse has had a treatment once a week for the last 3 weeks and is looking about 90% better (eek that's a lot of $ spent in the last month) BUT my hope is to be able to start lightly exercising him tonight. Accupuncture is truly amazing and a good massage therapist/chiro is too.
The supplement Alcar is helpful for nerve damage. it's Acetyl L Carnatine. Animal Element has it available on the website. i strongly recommend it to all of my customers who deal with EPM

In our stories contest about a horse with nerve damage and how PHT helped this overcome this. PHT has several nerve damage success stories. But nerve damage needs to be addressed quickly after damage. The longer the wait after injury the less the % of recovery
My gelding was spider bit to left of neck near poll area..very difficult to supple etc.. Accupuncture worked amazingly well and stretches and also PHT..
