Long story short sister sold her rodeo horse a few years back and this weekend he was given back to her with a mystery injury. He walks on the toe of his left hind leg. what would cause that?

A lot of things, how long has it been in this condition?  Does bute or banamine help (or any pain reliever)?  Has the farrier looked at the horse?  Is there heat anywhere in the leg?  Any swelling?

A friends horse was found walking/dragging his toe too. The horse was never lame or sore to the touch either. After much investagation they found it was the  distal digital annular ligament. After a lot of stal rest the horse was back!
