Location: Alabama | I have a 7 yr mare who has been having front feet issues. ( abscesses ) Took her in April 20 for X-rays and she has pedal osteitis. Got that under control and now thought she had another abscess but turns out she has a slight rotation in her right foot.
We put a wedge pad with cushion in between.
She's on 25mg of Viagra 2x a day
Back on track quick wraps PM
Changed her feed and pulled her off pasture.
Ordered some soft rides as well.
Vet said she will be running in a few weeks.
Just want to know other people's doing any other suggestion. |

| My dear friend, Deb Mohon was given a horse off the track that was foundered so bad that the owner was going to put him down. Long story short he carried her to the NFR 11 times. He is the ONLY horse to have ever run in every performance at 11 NFR rodeos. An extremely knowledgeable vet and exceptional farrier are a must. Google Special Agreement (Brown) and read about him. Deb had retired him before she died. He was put down at about the age of 23 from founder.
Hope that helps. |

THE has a couple great supplements for founder. I am using one on a very very old pony and he is doing great. I also had 2 daughters of Hot Colours founder on me and both got NitrOxide to help them out, Softrides and change of diet. Both were on the mend when I sold them to homes better suited to their needs. NutraWOUND for abcsesses and NitrOxide to promote blood flow to the feet. I have a couple customers on here that use it with wonderful results. BTW, never heard of Viagra for founder? Can you explain lol? |

I had the pleasure of meeting her at Cheyenne. She was my favorite of all the ladies I met that day. Genuine sweet lady. |

There is no one like Deb. She made her own rodeo clothes. Always gave you encouragement. When they brought Brown out at her funeral, I had to get up and leave. She was truly one in a million. |

Where can you get the NitrOxide? Cost? I think this might be something that could help my mare with the Mechanical founder. My vet is not overly concerned with diet (doesn't think it is a factor in her mechanical founder) for my mare. She needs as many calories as she can get with a foal at her side. Sorry OP for asking about this on your thread. |

| I have a chronic founder horse been dealing with her for 2 years.
My mare has a thick sole but it is so soft she abscesses constantly.
I have found what works for her is she is in old macs 24/7 this is not the label use, but it protects her feet.
To prevent thrush and to help alleviate the abscesses, I soak a breast pad in iodine and vet wrap it to secure in place, (I change it out every 3-4 days )then apply the old Mac boots. I use the gator inserts as well to prevent rubbing.
I also have the farrier out every 4 weeks to trim her, and he pares away the dead sole to healthy as she develops a false sole.
I have tried the THE nitric oxide for 4 months and it didn't do anything for her, I have had better luck with remission and remission is way cheaper.
Magic cushion is also something I use to draw the inflammation out
Also eliminating all sugars has also helped prevent abscesses |

Sure, I'll just put it here for everyone interested. Bob at THE made a top dress powder formula that creates blood flow to the feet. I have used it and am actually using it now as a special blend in my son's pony's Muscle Mass. But if you have a current problem, the full strength is better. 32 doses (months supply) is $115.95 shipped my price. I'll send you a link so you can read about it. It does have a money back guarantee, just send the package back within 45 days and we refund you less the shipping ($5.95).
Here is from the website and link to follow A great product to have on hand for emergencies, NitrOxide is our nutritional support for acute or chronic laminitis, sore feet, navicular, abscesses, and EPM. Research shows that laminitis involves insufficient blood flow to the hoof. The laminitis episode is initiated by different forms of stress, including overfeeding of certain grains and hay. Stress depletes the body of Nitric Oxide, which is necessary to maintain adequate blood flow to the hoof. This loss of proper blood flow weakens the hoof and the horse’s ability to walk. NitrOxide is designed to increase Nitric Oxide production and stimulate the blood flow to the hoof which speeds up healing, and is effective for recovery. Maintenance doses every 2 or 3 days will also help prevent reoccurrences - See more at: https://totalhealthenhance.com/equine/products/?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=59 |

| I have only a random statement to add to this thread: When I was a kid I had this cute little grade mare named Molly. She was maybe 14 hands on a good day. She would founder just looking at the spring grass. She was fine with shoes but pretty sore without them. I'd go out in the pasture after she had been turned out a few hours and lead her in with just my hand under her jaw. This mare never laid down on the gournd the entire time I owned her, which was about 14 years. I never knew if the founder was related to her inability to take the prone position, but I always assumed it was. She was the one that got me hooked on horses. The right horse for me at the right time of my life. The end. |

How does the NitrOxide compare to NANRICS Surge? I have a horse with really thin soles that is having problems and was recommended the Surge, but the NitrOxide is about 50 dollars cheaper for a 30 days supply. |

I'm not familiar with the one you mentioned, so I can't really have an opinion. I just know THE uses superior ingredients that are human grade, has the guarantee and has an extensive client base that swear by his supplements. I highly recommend you give it a try, even better that it is cheaper |
