If my mare is going to need surgery to remove a bone chip near her hock, where are the best vet clinics to do the surgery? I am located up north but willing to travel.

I love Oakridge Equine in Edmond, OK for surgeries.  Dr. Major removed a fragment from a fractured sesamoid for me back in March and it has healed perfectly.  They are actually very reasonable on their surgeries as well.

I had what sounds like the exact procedure done last fall at Oakridge in Edmond, OK. We used Dr. Hague specifically and were very impressed. They walked us through the entire process of what would happen, what to expect, what we need to do. Felt very comfortable during the entire procedure, and even called us when she was waking up and getting around.

And was very reasonably priced. $1600 after it was all said and done

Have you checked into having it done at the University of Wisconsin? It's become a pretty routine surgery so I sure wouldn't want to be traveling a long way to have it done. I had a chip removed from a horse back in 1986 when it was a pretty new procedure.
