I recently bought an own son of Dinkys Red Man. I am trying to find out what lines of broodmares cross well on DRM bloodlines. I know that the Fire Water Flit mares do but what else has anyone had success with? I want to cross the right ones to have marketable babies.

The "magic" cross for DRM stallions are Howie Bars mares. I have an own son as well (gelding), he's 30 this year. I've had him since he was seven and wouldn't trade him for the world. He's the best horse I ever swung a leg over. Fully retired now with the exception of a few young kids puttering around the yard with him, and still sound as a dollar.

DRM himself crossed great on EVERYTHING. I used to know his stats, but its been years since I looked at them. He only sired something like 200+ foals and had an astounding # of winners. Out of every kind of mare you could think of. It's true that Howie Bars is considered the best to cross on him but seriously, he worked on everything. Go to AQHA and pull his stud report. It's too bad he was really in the time before AI, he was an amazing horse.
