Lance Graves is awesome & is very light handed. He puts a great handle on one & is easy to ride after. Don't know how booked he is right now though.

Thank you!

Arion could you send me more info? Location? And last name?

Anyone have any experience with Chris Martin? Clayton Criger? Not sure if Ty Mitchell or Betty Roper take in outside horses?

I had a great experience with Chris Martin. He tuned up one of my horses and he has been placing/winning the 1-D ever sine. Cmbarrelhorses.com

I'll second Chris Martin. He's been training for us for 3 years now, and I just took over the reins of our now 6 yo that he trained and ran at futurities and derbys for us, and she is so broke and so easy.

Thank you for your input! Chris was def my top pick that I've been looking at. I have a 4yr old I am gonna be sending, she had 60 days put on her as 2 yr old by a top reining trainer and was lightly started on the barrel pattern (less than 60days), which she has since been pulled from since I decided to send her off.

BB Herbie is the best there is in my opinion.

You never have to worry about the care your horse is getting and when you get them back they are sane and extremely patterned.

I have had some not so good experiences with big name trainers.
Do your homework and find someone you can ride behind and someone that does well with the type and personality of the horse you have before letting them take your horse.

Go take a lesson with the trainer. And watch them ride the horses they have in training that day. See if they will let you ride a horse that they have trained. Especially with guys it can be hard to ride after them, but it can also be hard to ride after anyone if you don't have the same style. You can also see the condition their property is in and the condition of the horses there.

Thank you, canchasr1, I really appreciate your kind words!  Janna Beam is in Mt. Pleasant.  I've not personally seen her train, but I know she had a good amout of success with a friend of mine's horse and she was pleased with her.

Jennifer Schmidt.

Had my mare for 30 days. We went from 3d-4d to 1d-2d. Love Jen. She made my mare correct and helped me learn to ride her correctly and keep my mare moving forward afterwards. She has a gift.

We were 3rd in the 1d out of 60 entries 2 runs after I got her home. Never been happier.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions!

This is the filly I am wanting to send off. The video was taken last fall at the Josey clinic. I've been patterning her myself, this was with about her 33rd day on a pattern and year to date she only has 50 days.

Why in the world would you want to send her off?  Looks to me like she's working very nice for you!  I think you should save your money and just go on with her yourself.  Nice filly and nice job!!!!

We are blessed with loads of talent in Oklahoma.  One that hasn't been mentioned on this post that should always be considered is Susan Clapp.  Susan has been doing tune-ups on my daughter's little mare for us and anyone who has seen the FB videos that I have been posting can see the results!

Thank you everyone...my original plan was to do all of her training myself, I'm just burned out and was wanting a small "break". Figured sending her off to be finished would be the break I needed and then I could just enjoy her instead of having to do all the training.

Send her to Lianna DeWeese. She is one of the best trainers you will ever meet. Super nice hand with a horse. She has my three year old now and will get all of my babies as long as she is able to still get on one. She is no nonsense and super honest. She is also patient. You won't get a blown up wreck back either. You will probably pick your horse up looking better than when you dropped it off. She doesn't take buckers and she wants them started under saddle at least 30-60 but otherwise can train them to do anything you ask. Plus she rides your horse, not an intern. Super great about staying in contact with you and keeping you updated about your horse too. I can't say enough nice things about her program.

I have had personal experience with a couple of the trainers listed and my opinion: Keep looking; or go on with your training.  Your horse looks to be doing fine.

I love to read these. Everyone has an opinion because it has or hasn't worked for them. If its worked for you there's nothing to say but good things. If it didn't work for you they must be terrible. No one ever considers that you just can't ride behind them or the fact you sent your horse to a 1D rider/futurity trainer is over your riding capabilities. consider sending your horse to someone who trains to better fit what you plan to do with your horse. No reason to send your horse to someone who primarily trains futurity horses if your gonna NBHA only, etc, etc...
Also, It's idiotic to say GUYS are hard to ride behind when the majority of horses winning the big Rodeos were trained by men! I'm sorry but Ryan Lovendahl, Add Waddell, and sooo many other guys are easy to ride behind! They are the quietest and lightest trainers around. Some guys are hard to ride behind, but there are ALOT of women who I would never ride behind. Women can jerk and snatch with the best of them!
Try asking your close friends who they use or a tough local competitor that is consistently winning who they recommend. What works for one person might not work for you.
