Has anyone dealt with this? I have looked up on internet and not much bout it. Waiting on a few people to call me (chiro and vet). He has really never looked like he travels right in the back end well now he has a bump between the top of hip and top of tail. On the skeleton map it one of the bones on the sacrum.

Im one of those people don't know how to post pics I'll try. It's not hunters bump :)). On the Skelton the sacrum has ridges like a verabrae in the back. Hope this makes sense

The sacrum does have dorsal spinous processes, are all five of these sticking up or just one or a few? Sometimes if the horse stops using his hindend correctly because of pain (possibly sore hocks or stifles), the muscle above the sacrum will weaken and atrophy which makes the sacrum more visible. Does your horse appear to have good muscle tone in the hip area? Here's a good pic of the sacrum- see how it is one fused bone- or is supposed to be anyway! ;)

Most likely calcium deposit or scar tissue. My mare has bumb as well that seems like a bone sticking up like something is out but it is just calcium buildup that will never go away. It is just cosmetic and does not bother her.

He came from racetrack and has just fallen apart. He lost a lot of weight and feet has been sore and of course treated for ulcers he just now getting over feet. And bc we have had so much rain I can't stay on top of feet (I do my own). Have an appointment w chiro Friday and my vet out of town til next week. It may b hunters bump. He hasn't been ridden in 6 moths bc of other issues and was getting ready to try to ride and now this thing pops up! I will try pic again
