That they want to let me "borrow"?  I have a horse I think would like the mullen rubber mouthpiece, but dang I don't want to buy one to then turn around and sell it!

Yay!  Very exciting!  Give me a pat for him.  Love how great minded he always looks in the pictures you post.  I grew up with one like him and they are invaluable.  No doubt he will pass that on to his babies.  :

which whisper bit are you looking for? Aren't there a couple different options or am I deranged (highly likely)

You're not deranged....i'd prefer the short shank.  I'd eventually like to try the gag too, but I think the short shank is the one i've had in the past and would work well for this particular horse.

Having no experience with this bit. Could you explain what kind of horse you have that you think would benefit from this bit?

Sure, he's a really hard running, hard turning 5 YO.  He's light mouthed but prefers a mullen mouthpiece over anything broken, so I currently run him in a mullen mouth bit I had made years ago that i've gotten along with on other horses who prefer a mouthpiece that isn't broken.  I find that as hard and quick as this horse is, that my hands get a little quick when/if I need to make a corretion.  In the past horse I used it on, the rubber mouthpiece just took that jolt out of my my hands when they got a little quick, but still gave me the feel I want.  I'm not heavy handed, and I hate any gag bit because I can't "feel" a horse's mouth, but my hands do occasionally get "quick" when a horse steps up and makes a run....probably from riding colts and young hroses for the last 7 years or so.  It will just ease the communication between us.
