There are some pretty serious side effects from that drug and I would not want to handle it on a daily basis. In my opinion there are many safer options for treating hind gut ulcers.

I would have to agree. I don't know anything about it and its use in horses but I know in people it is given to induce labor and to make the uterus contract to stop bleeding.

As hard as the FDA has come down on generic omeprazole products, I am suprised that a drug this dangerous has flown under their radar. Of course there is probably no $$$$ involved so there is no pressure on the FDA to do thier job in this case.
I think it is very irresponsible for a company to put this product out there like it has with barely any warning labels. I gave omeprazole to about 15 racehorses a day until I was about 6 months pregnant. I shudder to think about what could have happened to my child if I had unknowingly handled a product like this every day.
