Location: MD | I'm running into a few food allergies(suspected) with my aussie and am starting him slowly on a natural diet. poultry, veggies, homemade treats etc. Already been seen and approved a diet change per my vet.
does anyone have any recipes or good reliable websites to find them or books etc? |

| I tried cooking for my dog once and he loved it! My aunt also cooked for her senior Dachshund before he passed away and also would make some for her Mastiff. She said that she used lean beef or chicken with rice and any vegetables she had around like beans, carrots, etc. She also pre made it for the week so it was easier that way!

Location: Carpenter, WY | My 86 year old mom cooks for her cats and puts a daily serving in one of the little butter dishes. She must have a kajillion of them in her freezer :) Chicken, rice, veggies and then she dumps some cream of chicken soup over it to serve as gravy. She watches for the chicken leg sales like a hawk |

Location: Red Raiderland | Dogs DO NOT need their meat cooked nor do they need fruits and veggies. They are carnivores not omnivores. Will most dogs eat fruits and veggies? Of course, they are opportunists but do they need fruits, veggies, grains(carbs)? Nope. As a matter of fact when dogs eat carbohydrates they don't have amylase in their saliva, like omnivores or herbivores, which allows for digestion to start immediately. If carnivores eat carbs it takes their pancreas and small intestines to add the amylase and that can be difficult on the dog's digestive system. If they are eating a true raw diet their digestive system runs so smoothly and runs quickly(as designed) and very little poop.  My dogs do get treats of a pieces of fruits or veggie here and there when I am cooking or eating F&V myself but it is just unnecessary for them to eat them as part of their regular diet.
Feeding dogs a homemade diet is very easy. Feed them RAW meat(80%), some bones(10%) and organs(10%). Easy peasy. My dogs have eaten this way all their lives and they are 10.5 yo, 8.5 yo and 2.5 years old and they look and feel top notch.

But wont the transition be difficult on their system? to go to raw meat? my older girl is 13 and Id be worried it will upset her tummy. |

Some transition just fine and others have some diarrhea but it is not lifethreatening just inconvenient on owner's part. I had one dog have diarrhea for five loooong(I was up every few hours with her during the night-poor girl) days but she did just fine after that. It has been over a dozen years ago that I switched to all raw and I gotta say it was really nerve wracking at first but now I could never think about going back to kibble-ever. My dog's in the past would get skin allergies and lots of yeast infections in their ears and I have not dealt with any of that since those days. If I didn't sneak people food to my Dachshunds their teeth would be NICE but I am sucker for letting them lick plates, etc. so I do have to get their teeth cleaned once a year or so.
BTW, it may sound gross to most people but when my dogs are out and about with me if they catch mice, rabbits, birds etc I let them eat them, whole. One Dachshund would NEVER starve in the wild-GIRL loves to eat and will eat anything. She is 10 1/2 now and she looks great, a little grey, but her coat is still beautiful shiny black and she goes on a mile or so walk nearly everyday. |

I fed my GSD ***** raw...mostly like Kaycee
The only thing different I added plain yogurt to help with digestion and occasionly some ACV.
I did not cook anything unless it was leftover vegatables (I don't use salt when I cook, just real butter).
You also do not want to feed kibble and raw at the same time...because kibble is designed to digest slower. Raw is almost immediately put to use by the body. I would suggest giving the dog some raw, boneless chicken by itself to see how she does and go from there. |

I'm a little gun-shy after being infected by chicken last year and was sick for over two months being infected with campylobacter.
So I did cook the chicken a little, it was still pretty pink on the inside. last night was his first feeding so I'm still using majority of kibble for the transition period. He was pretty excited about it. also made some small plain yogurt and blueberry snacks that I froze for when he comes back from the barn. I'm glad I have some experience meal prepping for myself so sticking my pup in on the program isn't too much of a change to my day

| www.dynamitespecialyproducts.com I agree raw is the best but Dynamites kibble is the next best thing. made in house they didn't sell to retail stores, made in small batches, HUMAN grade protein. I believe the rep out Maryland way is Carrie Eastman

| Yours dog are so cute I have one wì the allergies I been feeding her Rachel ray dog food helped alot.they say green beans ar good for dogs and I give my dogs veggies hamburger chicken |
