Just saw an ad on FB for this 'Y Cinch' made by 5 Star. It seems like a really good idea, makes sense, and I know 5 Star makes great products... I'm just curious if any BBs actually use this and what you think of it?

Here's the link for those interested! http://www.5starequineproducts.com/cinchascinches/y-cinch-natural/

Didn't Martha Josey used to sell something a lot like that back in the '80's and '90's?

Hopefully someone else would know for sure...I was born in 90 so I have no clue. But if she did and anyone used it, I'd be interested to hear opinions!

I think it was Josey's product way back when... I had one that had nylon over the thick, fuzzy fleece and I loved it! I am SO glad I clicked on this thread. I'll be buying one of these now that I saw this. I was looking for one a few years back, when I got back into barrel racing.

If I wasn't so content with my current cinch (which was a gift), that is the one I would buy.

Can anyone find the price of this cinch on 5star website? I really want to try one. It makes sense what they say about the back girth.

I couldn't find it, either. I had to go to the "5 star dealers" page and just went down the list until I found one that carries this cinch. I stopped on the first one I found, and that was barnworld.com.
Retails for $179.95 in natural color. You can get it in a bunch of different colors for a little more. I'm going to go through the rest if the links if I get time tonight and do some price shopping.

you can get them a lot cheaper than that. Pete Morris on Facebook Southeast Saddle has them and they are
very good quality. See what he charges. They hold the saddle down without getting in the way of the flank. they work great if you like to use a back cinch.

Well, I don't have facebook, so I hope Rockyroad replies on this thread. I did a search on here, and maybe I'm not searching right or something, but I couldn't find her.
I did send an e-mail to the southeast saddles guy. I found his non-facebook web site, but I didn't see the cinches on there. Maybe he will reply to my e-mail and I can get a price. I'll post back here if I hear from him.

I currently use one, its wool instead of the cotton string type. I love it, they do seem to be hard to find, & I don't even remember where I got the one I use. Did see one of Ebay a while back, though!!! (p.s. I'm a cheap skate so I know I didn't pay more than $50 for it!)
