We have a daughter of Designer Red and Smasherella, extremely nice 1D mare that we are considering selling embryos, any ideas of who to contact would be greatly appreciated.. does anyone feel like there is a market for these embryos since Designer Red now stands in Brazil. This mare clocks with the best of the best.

The only embryos that sell are work World Champions or really famous horses that have won or produced over $100k. The mares have to have great breeding and excessive win or produce records.

I love that breeding, but here is the deal.  When you tranfer embroys it is an iffy process.  It can get expensive.  I spent a mere $3000 this year and got an embryo, it was thrilling.  I have spent 4 times that for no baby in the past.  In addition to the harvesting of the embryo, you have all the associated vet costs in getting the pregnancy.  Then you have the stud fee and shipping costs.  So....if it is not a super fancy mare, it won't pay for most people to buy an embryo.  If I were rich...she woud be something I'd breed to Judge Cash or Lions Share of Fame, or maybe even my own stallion, but I would KEEP it and not try to make money.  I'm not rich and the lines probaby won't appeal to most of those who can afford to do this.  They are buying Mulberry Canyon Moon embryos even though she is a shoulder dropping heifer and other famous mares as well.

Mulberry Canyon Moon is one heck of a producer and you cant shake a stick at what she has done in the arena. Holy Toledo have you seen her foals?  Plus, her and Firewater Fiesta embryo's are VERY expensive!
To the OP, you should pm Sonya Walz on here and pick her brain. She is selling embryo's out of some of her mares. She sells them for $1500 - $2000 and if you go to their website you can see what embryo's from what mares for how much. Go to the for sale tab.
http://www.walzperformancehorses.com/  Also, there is a FB page group barrel racing embryo's for sale. You should go check that out as well and join it. Your mare sounds like a nice mare and you never know how many embryo's or how that market is for you untill you try. I think you have a marketable mare, and she is a performer.

i've flushed out of my Reckless Dash mare for someone. She's a multiple WPRA/PRCA rodeo money earner, 1D record at the big shows, and has a super nice female family. Her's are worth about 1000-1500. We also had two embryos sold out of our JOH for $2k a piece but I decided to not do it because I wanted to make sure she was fertile since we hadn't tried to breed her yet. Turns out she is so we may do it next year.

I've flushed this year and gotten excellent embryos on the first try. Cost me less than $2k a mare. We are selling embryos out of our judge cash mares swell...I think it's better than buying a colt. I know the process is "iffy" but at least I know what the mare is that the babies will be out of. That's the most important part to me. I don't like buying something when the dam hasn't done anything but sit in a pasture. And I've won over $30k on the judge cash mare, great attitude, mind, and tries...I like that...I've seen a ton of mares bred just because of their sire and Dam yet the mare itself hasn't done anything as an individual. I personally would rather buy an embryo and breed the stud of my choice. Jmo but I'd rather breed a talented mare would pay for firewater fiesta, go royal Scarlett ect if I could afford them!

Where did you have this done? I have a mare that can't carry and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to float an embryo b/c of the very reasons you stated.. She needs to have another foal (or two)..

I know someone that flushed a mare and sold for more than $10K.  Very well bred mare, but has not won $100K.  Good blood lines a winning record, WPRA money won and solid bones, great feet.....all things people want to bred for.  They were approached by the buyer though so I don't know what the process was.
