Any tips on getting your horse to grow more sole? I just started the T.H.E NitriOxide trying to get more bloodflow to the hoof. He is on T.H.E MM w/joint and hoof blends as well. My farrier and vet are getting together for his next shoeing appointment and are putting rocker shoes on him. Any advice or tips on what helped with your horses would be appreciated! I know this will be a long drawn out process and I'm not looking for a quick fix, just trying to get his sole grown and get him more comfortable.

My vet said to take shoes off and leave him barefoot for a few months or try rocker shoes. He doesn't like to run on in rocker shoes because it puts a lot of stress on the knees.

I took my horse's shoes off for over a year and it only helped enough for riding in the pasture, not on harder ground, which we had because of the drought. I finally had to put shoes back on. I tried a supplement, but it didn't help.

I've got one too that just has thin soles and nothing I can do about it. He only has front shoes on while we do ranch work from spring to fall, then we take them off for winter. He never acts sore out in pasture, but boy the minute you start to ride him even across hard ground he gets gimpy. We don't even really have mant rocks around here. I can't feed him a supplment because he is my husband's horse and out in a pasture 99% of the time. I do think if any supplement will held it would be NitrOxide. It did wonders for 2 foundered broodmares I had. THE Hoof Growth is a great supplement too, a good follow up after a round of NitrOxide or alone.

My colt off the track had extremely thin soles. Extremely thin. Put Rickens formula on 2x a day for few months and now just couple times a week. Awesome stuff.

My horse has thin soles.
My first experience with thin soles...he is off the track. I had him about a year and I kept telling my trainer he felt sore on front end..she indicated I was crazy and nothing was wrong. A month passes and he can hardly walk....again trainer thinks the horse shoer hot nailed him. That night I stopped by horse shoes he pulled shoes and put pads on and said I need to get him to vet.
Vet says thin soles and I say now what. He spent a month in wooden shoes($$$) and stall rest. I thought my vet was crazy, but it was impressive how much the sole in just a month grew. Vet sent us to corrective shoer, and my horse shoer spent time going with me to corrective shoer to learn how to shoe my horse. Basically don't use much knife. Vet also recommends a hoof hardener and a hoof supplement. Been smooth sailing......knocking on wood...LOL
