Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | My boyfriend and I are starting the paleo diet. He's been on it before but has kinda got away from it. I've been reading books about it and I'm going to try it. I exercise but can't seem to loose weight and I know it's because my current eating habits are horrible. What are some good meals that I can make for us but that are easy because my cooking skills aren't very good yet? We go out to eat a lot because we have a decent selection of steak houses close by. How/what do you order at places like that? |

I would like to know more too. My biggest issue for a lot of the diets is cost. But since we both would be doing paleo that would help off set the cost of the food because I know the kind of stuff you have to eat on it isn't cheap. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I went on the Paleo Diet and loved it but my bladder can't handle fruits and that was what I ate the most of. I still follow it and eat very little processed foods. It is worth it and it's not a diet. It's a way of life and it's great shopping the outside aisles of the grocery store. The worst thing is having to go to the grocery store more often because of eating all the fresh foods but we got use to that pretty quickly.

| It costs me 275 a month for the medifast. Everything comes to your door, huge variety and the food really does taste AWESOME. I went back through and I was already spending that much at grocery store anyway so it was easy. I told my health coach about all of you asking so she can come on and respond directly to. I am all about seeing results quickly. 22 pounds in 21 days is pretty darn cool. lol |

THe key with medifast is it is a MEDICAL weight loss plan. ALl of the foods they send you are perfectly balanced so your body gets what it needs, when it needs it so your nutritional needs are being met while you still lose weight. I have to force myself to eat, my body has gone into fat burning mode and I feel much much better. |

Location: Montana | I have several heath issues with my digestive system. About 2 months ago my Dr. sent me to a nutritionalist because my triglycerides are to high but by modern standards I eat healthy. Her recomendations were very similair to the Paleo diet, for weight loss it is a paleo diet. I have learned so much from her. Most of what she has been talking to me about are all of the bad oils that are in all kinds of stuff that we eat, including things that we think of as good for us and pre-packaged diet foods. According to her, these "false" oils ( veg, canola, soy, etc) are not recognized by the body as real food so they are stored as fat, they also inhibit proper digestion so the foods that are cooked in these "oils" are also stored as fat. The oils that I have been cooking with are; coconut (which I had never used before but is so awesome) lard, grass fed butter, olive oil, bacon fat from bacon with no nitrates. The reason she wants grass fed butter is due to a proper ballance of omega 3 and 6. She has also taught me a lot about refined wheat vs sprouted wheat or a true sourdough bread and their nutional values. She told me to expect to lose inches simply due to internal inflamation. I have lost about 8 pounds but I have lost almost 8 inches around my waist. I havent felt this good in at least 10yrs. |

| I was on Paleo before I got pregnant and followed a modified paleo diet all through pregnancy. I had lost about 15 lbs in 2 months with paleo before I got pregnant. I liked that it helped me lose inches around my waist as all the other diets I lost weight everywhere else and my waist was still resistant. Since having the baby my colon cannot handle paleo (yeah I know...tmi) and now I eat a high fiber yet still clean diet. I call it the "snake" diet as I bloat up like a snake after eating. It works for weight loss though, and I am never hungry or bored with food. I still eat things on the paleo list but have had to include quinoa, oatmeal, etc. |

Amazing! Back in the day I was diagnosed with IBS, crohns, had all kinds of issues. What I find interesting is not one doctor ever asked about my diet, what was I eating...they just put me on this drug and that drug and I felt horrible all the time. Once I started eating correctly and getting the nutrition my body so desperately needed...all those issues went away! I always say now I never really realized how bad I felt because that was my normal. Nothing compares to feeling the way we are supposed to...amazing!! pm me if you are interested, fabulous healthy program!! |

Exactly!!! And I have only been sick once since editing out all the sugar, synthetic "food," etc. It's amazing how good you can feel when you eat right. Apparently 80% of your immune system resides in your intestines. So sugar and inflammation can cause issues elsewhere. Ick. |

I was born with several issues. They thought I had cystic vibroses, I do not but Drs didnt figure that out until I was 18 (that was alright though because they saved my life several times). I had to take digestive ensymes until I was in my early 20s. The only time I was sent to a nutritionalist was 19yrs ago when I was pregnant with my youngest. I had gestational diabeties. My current Dr. wanted to start me on statins, which I have no interest in taking. I asked her to send me. I had been eating fruit, lots of raw veggies, nuts and grains. All this was wrong for me. All my veggies need to be steamed, no raw nuts they need to be roasted or a nut butter, very few fruits mostly berries. I have learned so much about supplements as well. I take a lot of supplements because of the malabsorbtion issues. She ordered professional grade replacements. What a difference.....Within 20min of starting them I felt a surge of energy and good feelings. It has made all of the difference for me. I agree with you that Drs should send patients to a nutritionalist. I dont think they are covered by insurance either, at least not mine. |

Location: North Dakota | I don't believe in dieting. I was on that Medifast program for a year and lost 40 lbs but immediately gained everything back plus some when I couldn't afford to be on the program anymore (about $100 a week). Plus the food was HORRIBLE and I was starving 24/7. I get heartburn when I'm hungry so was absolutely miserable. A little over a month ago I reduced the amount of processed foods and drinks I have. I saw the "Fed Up" documentary and it was very enlightening about just how bad sugar is and how much of it is in everything. I haven't completely cut everything out (I have a bad day once in a while) but make pretty much everything from scratch with as little sugar and carbs as possible, right down to my own ketchup. I'm down 20lbs so far. |

Medifast is not meant to be an end all, do all! It is a temporary tool to help get you to where you want to go. Then we have a process to transition you back to regular food. I have found that those I coach that choose to go right back to their old habits and dont follow the transition will indeed gain their weight back, and usually more too. If you are open and learn The Habits of Health, you learn your triggers, you learn to make the changes necessary so the weight does not come back. If you were having heartburn, were hungry, any issues at all, your coach should have been with you getting that worked out. That is NOT normal and no one should suffer with any issues. There are 80 different food choices, and we have a fabulous return policy. Did your coach not share that with you? Of course no one is going to like every single food offered. Sounds like you are on the right track now, congrats on your loss and best of luck to you!! If anyone is looking for that kickstart to get them where they want to be, feel free to message me |

I have had the opposite experience with medifast. I am NEVER hungry as Skeeter777 will tell you. lol I had to ask her if I HAD TO EAT. I am FULL all the dang time!!! THe food does taste awesome however. Its like candy, I love candy. lol I agree, you cant just go off the program and expect to keep it off, in my instance it has been and always will be a fight.. Mine works out to about 70.00 a week, and I was spending that in groceries and snacks anyway...
THey even have pancakes but I dont have the time or like to cook so I just make a pancake batter Shake... lol On Medifast you eat every 2 hours. THats the key.. You wont get hungry and your body sheds the weight when it knows it will have a regular dependable meal every 2 hours.

Location: lexington KY | I have been enjoying the Paleo Lifestyle for over 2 years now. I fell off the wagon a little this past winter, but always go back to it. I don't eat processed foods very often at all, I meal prep every week and absolutely enjoy eating this way. I feel great, have lots of energy and I am lean. I would say I am 80/20 with my eating every week. However the 2 cheat meals I have are gluten free most of the time. Once you start the lifestyle you will find it is much easier than people think. You just eat real food and it takes a commitment, but I cant imagine anything better to be committed to than your health. |

But i just wanted to say I started the Paleo "Life style" 5 weeks ago.
and I couldnt be happier!
The only reason i ever considered it was because of my mom. She was border lines diabetic (Some considered her full diabetic)
Her blood sugar would spike up to 260. Her Arthritis flare ups were so bad some days she would be HOWLING in pain. Especially if she forgot her pills.
5 weeks on this diet, She is COMPLETELY off her arthritis medicine with minimal soreness in her wrists. AND her blood sugar levels NEVER go over 130. PLUS shes lost over 25 lbs!
I of course only went on this 'life style change" to support her, but now im not sure i'll go back! I've lost 16 lbs my self and have never felt better.
PLUS people think " aww man the food is awful i bet, i dont want to eat like a rabbit"
Well we make Turkey Pasole, Mexican Stew, Garlic herbs salmon with roasted vegetables, Turkey lettuce wraps ( Which I cheat on a bit because i love mayonnaise)
AND for desert we have mango/pineapple sorbet. OR bananas covered in purified all natural dark chocolate and you can cover them in nuts or leave them as is.
PLUS GET THIS we can have PANCAKES
THATS RIGHT PANCAKES!
Blanched almond flour, blue berries, eggs, vanilla, and a couple other ingredients that are allowed an WHAA LAA! PANCAKES! and they are goood!
I cant imagine why more people are NOT on this "Change". This really isnt a diet, its a life style change. if you read any of the articles out there about GMOs, Additives, sugars, ETC you'd never want to eat anything BUT what the Paleo diet allows. |

PLUS shes lost over 25 lbs! I of course only went on this 'life style change" to support her, but now im not sure i'll go back! I've lost 16 lbs my self and have never felt better. PLUS people think " aww man the food is awful i bet, i dont want to eat like a rabbit" Well we make Turkey Pasole, Mexican Stew, Garlic herbs salmon with roasted vegetables, Turkey lettuce wraps ( Which I cheat on a bit because i love mayonnaise) AND for desert we have mango/pineapple sorbet. OR bananas covered in purified all natural dark chocolate and you can cover them in nuts or leave them as is. PLUS GET THIS we can have PANCAKES THATS RIGHT PANCAKES!
Love reading this! It is a great lifestyle! Most people don't want to put forth the effort to change. They also want to continue to eat things that aren't healthy. Good for you! |

| Paleo for years due to health issues, not only can it jump start weight loss, it teaches you a great healthy way to eat - my hubby will 2nd that. Even he feels better after going probably 80% paleo. So much better for you than processed junk or other diet fads |

Location: sunny california | my problem with dieting is it has to be easy. i just can't motivate myself to take all the time for shopping so I end up eating out of the pantry. I prefer fresh and like my veggies and such; i just don't want to drive into town every few days to shop and make a big mess. so in reality I guess you could say i eat paleo often, but when that runs out I don't, not until I gather up the energy to go to the store again. |

I agree with everything you typed! Shopping seems like a chore. I would rather push mow the yard. Then add in cooking which I don't do well or enjoy. That would be a lot of hours each week spent doing things you don't enjoy. Of course factor in all the other hours of the day we all do things we have to do, but don't like to do.... Well yuck! The Food Network akd The Food Channel make it look like so much fun, put it is all smoke and mirrors! LOL

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I have cooked more in the last 2 years then I have in all the 46 years we have been married. I can't believe it but I have actually enjoyed cooking healthy. We use to go out to eat at least 5 days a week and we've been out to dinner 5 times at the most in the last 2 years. I never thought I would quit eating bread and white potatoes. We now eat organic sweet potatoes and I don't miss the bread. |

| One thing we all need to remember is that in our day and age it takes WORK to stay in shape and healthy. Back in the day before drive thru's , starbucks, McDonalds, and even grocery stores we had to exert a lot of energy to even find or get food. TOday its so easy. You can order a XXXXXXX calorie pizza on your cell phone and have it delivered. THose that want to lose weight want the easy way out. Yea, you might get hungry until you adjust, and might have to exercise but thats the facts of life with any program. You can't just sit around, eat all you want and expect to lose weight. |

That's awesome!
Congrats on your journey to being healthy.
Most people are not aware of the internal inflammation that is caused by your diet.
That is what I do along with Raw dairy from my own cow and it has been amazing for me and my R.A.! |
