A dear friend had an accident yesterday and was diagnosed with avulsion fractures of L1 - L4. Has anyone experienced this and was there a particular therapy/product that helped with healing and/or pain?

Are they complete fractures that require fixation by rods and screws or is the doctor recommending rest and home care?Either way pain meds will help tremendously as well as anti inflamitories, but it all depends on the severity of the injury.

No bone breaks, but lots of pain and torn muscle. I was wonderingif BOT or Tommy Copper or some other therapy would help speed healing and help with pain

I've had 2 wedge compression fractures in my spine. At L2 in 2011 and T11 in 2006.
I found that my BOT long johns and tee shirt really helped when my muscles would go to spasming. It also helped with the aching.
I also have a BOT back brace that worked for me but wasn't supportive enough for riding. When I started back to riding again after the last fracture (of L2), one of the Pro Choice back braces really helped me. Otherwise I could hardly sit up straight on my horse because my muscles would seize up on me within 10 minutes of getting on to ride. I only used it for a month or two before I was strong enough to go without it.
I still have some troubles (aching, stiffness, arthritis) and frequently wear my BOT clothing which helps.
I have heard great things about the copper as well.
