| I'm in the market to buy a new saddle. I need something with the narrow/semi quarter horse bars. Just looking for input on people's input on favorite brands. I have a Rocking R now and love the deep seat, but need something that fits my horse better.
Thanks!! |

Location: North Dakota | If you're looking for SQHB look at the camarillo saddles by courts, if you're looking for used in good shape look for a #38 tree. Courts especially the camarillo saddles are very well built and have a deeper seat. I recently bought a Jeff Smith Mary Walker saddle.... |

Location: North Dakota | My marlene Mcrae Special EFFX was VERY comfortable for me. Didn't always have luck with it fitting horses though. My Meleta Brown is very well made and is pretty versatile as far as fitting horses. It's too small for me so it's not exactly comfy for me, but I've watched my sister ride in it (who it fits) and it allows her to ride more balanced than any of her saddles. She loves it. My next saddle will probably be a martin. |

Location: Red Raiderland | Caldwell. They are pricey but well worth the money spent. I've owned many brands over the years and now I will not ride in anything but a Caldwell. I own 4 barrel saddles and one cutter by them. I would recommend looking for a used one, as they hold their value and are built to last. |

I rode in a Jeff Smith and its a decent saddle but its not as nice, imo, as a caldwell. What tree and size is the caldwell you are selling? |

Location: NC | I'm cheap I guess because I love a Pro Rider. I played saddle fit bingo with my horse in the spring and kept coming back to a Pro Rider. I've never had any back problems with any of my horses with my Pro Riders. I prefer the newer trees with the 7 inch gullet which they consider a full bar. But you can order whatever width you need. You can get one as cheap as $800 or upwards of $2000+ depending on your style and needs/wants.
I also would love to invest in a Meleta Brown someday when I save up enough to buy one brand new. They're hard to find used in my seat size. |

| I've been on a college budget but bought a Ran Ten saddle off of ebay used. They were made in Alabama by a guy who used to work with the guy who makes Lamb saddles? At least that's what I was told! I had had a Ran Ten before and loved the feel and when I saw it on ebay I had to buy it. I love this one so much better than the first one I had too because it's apparently the Martha Josey style he made. But I've been told, and believe it, that some were made cheap and others were not. The first one I had was made cheap but the one I have now is not. They're really not the top notch best out there, quality wise, but they're decent quality and very very comfy with a deep seat if you've been on a budget like me! They're kinda hard to find but if you find one for a good price they'd even be nice just to have as an extra. Someday I dream of riding in something really nice! I'd love to try a Shiloh or Tod Slone. Someday...lol.
ETA: Here's a picture of my saddle on a horse I take lessons on in his sale pictures and here's another picture of that kind of saddle but mine looks different and I didn't pay near this price for one. But mine was used! http://www.crestviewequine.com/product/RTBR15MJ

| Are there any saddles out there where you can get the different rises in them like the Caldwells? I have rode in Caldwells only the last several years. I am not going to buy another one--and don't want to spend the PSC or Tami Semas price either....but I've gotten so used to that high rise everything else feels awful. |

Do you have any pictures? I have been looking into something like this, I started doing ranch rodeos too so I wanted something to do both in. |

I've recently had a Lynn McKenzie Special, Carl Ammerman, and CJ by Cactus. I like all of them but this Tami really keeps me where I need to be to ride my horse more correctly. Not to mention I've had it fit a variety of horses so far, I have the wide tree. |

Location: NW | Love my caldwell saddles :)
I bought a new Neil Merril and i really like the saddle! It is light and tends to fit many different horses. I put my nettle stirrups on and it really rides nice. :)
you have to be carful and treat these saddle very carefully so you don't damage the saddle.......But I do really like it!!!
My caldwells fit only certain horses with what tree I have. Great balance and are the heaviest saddle I have ever owned because they are so well made!! you won't get a better made saddle.
I have had coats, allen ranch and other saddles.............
I think it is nice to try all different saddle makers and then you will know what you like and don't like. |

| I have never had the luxury of a caldwell, but have prob tried at least 12 different brands/ makes of saddles, and always come back to the Pro Riders.......I like the 7" gullet as well, and am now using a 7.5. They fit my horses well and are a very balanced ride. Tried the treeless route of Circle y, all models, and though comfortable, I ride much better in a Pro Rider . |

| I've ridden saddles by Sharon Camarillo, Tex Tan, Longhorn, Cecil Phillips, Shiloh with a Buster Welsh tree and a Contender, Lynn McKenzie, Tammy Fischer, Todd Sloan, Kim Thomas, Martin and Deb Sibley .. oh and I tried a Lisa Lockhart. Some I tried when trying horses, others I've borrowed trying to find something that fit my horse! I've not been able to try a Caldwell, Coats, Crown C, or any of the others ….
Out of what I have ridden, my favorites are the Shiloh with the Buster Welsh tree, Todd Sloan, Cecil Phillips and the Sibley. With all that said, my horse prefers the treeless TF, so that's what I ride. He runs and turns harder for whatever reason. So as someone posted before … whatever fits my horse.
