Location: taking the road less traveled... | I am transferring with my job to San Antonio early part of September, and was hoping to get some advice about where to look for a safe affordable apartment and I also need help finding a nice barn to keep
my horse that won't break the bank but trustworthy and nice. I am not real familiar with the area so I need some help. My office is going to be on
11238 N Interstate 35 zip code 78233.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !!! Thanks !!! |

Location: Dearing, GA | I love San Antonio and can't wait to move back. Anywhere off 1604 between I-10 and I-35 will be good. The North/Northwest part of town is really nice, and I felt safer there than the south part of town. |

Not sure how long you want to commute every day, but looking in one of the smaller towns around SA might be good. May be you can rent a little house with pasture...?
Good luck! This is a great area to live in! |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | WoW! I must really live in a bubble as I didn't have a clue that renting an apartment was so expensive. You could be paying on a house for less...
I agree with Go Misty Go...I would be looking for a rental home with some land. |

Location: taking the road less traveled... | Yes it is very expensive !! I will be working at Enterprise Rental. Just trying to find somewhere safe and affordable for me and my horse. I am not looking for big commute because of the fact that I get 11mpg in my truck. I don't wanna drive more than 35 mins to work and don't want the barn to be more than that as well. I am having a hard time finding somewhere safe and affordable that doesn't have "structural" problems. I want to find an apartment and barn within 35-40 of my work but not in different directions if that makes sense. Sorry just trying to find somewhere to live is hard and I only have a month before I start work. Thank you for all your help! |

There are some apartments and homes for sale/rent around Retama Racetrack in Selma. I used to work at that racetrack. A lot of people use Retama Equine Hospital as their regular vet, too. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | streakysox - 2015-07-30 3:07 PM I would look in the Boerne area. I just checked and found this..What would be nice about Boerne (besides it being a very nice, safe Yuppy town) they rent stalls for self care at the Boerne Fairgrounds that would be probably the cheapest you will find to keep a horse. I think it's $75.00 for the stall. I'll go look for their website.
Here is their website and it is $75.00 to rent a stall.

| You can rent a stall and turn out with full care at Tejas Rodeo in Bulverde TX, plus you have access to their fabulous facility. |

Heather just as soon as we can. Gotta see where the military moves my other half but between Austin and San Antonio is our goal at the end of the day. Hey, I can be your South Texas rep! |

Location: taking the road less traveled... | I have found a few good places but dang the prices! I am so excited to be moving back to TX, but finding a safe affordable place to rent that doesnt look like it should be bulldozed down or finding a boarding facility that offers full care board with turnout that is equally the same for my horse seems hard too! I will find something just was not sure of where to stay away from or where to look! Thank you so much for all your help! |

Location: Buffalo, Wyoming | I am not sure how far out this is from where you will work but look into Sequin. I stayed there for a month or so when we first moved to Texas. I really liked the area and we found a great place to keep out horses and plug our trailer in. The guy had a small apartment that he rented as well that was attached to the barn. I will see if we still have his info and pass it your way. |

Location: Heart of Texas | You're in a more reasonable part of town. I would say look for an apartment in live oak, universal city, or converse. Then look on craigslist for a place to board your horse in the cibolo or marion area. It'll be the closest thing to you. So you don't have to drive far in your truck. Good Luck! |

Your job is going to be located in the NE section of SA ... so look in the direction of CIBOLO TX for boarding your horse ... you want your drive to be away from the populated areas of SA and you do not want to drive to BOERNE way on the NW SIDE OF SA ... in heavy traffic ...
Stay in that NE area and decide to look for an apartment in the small towns that have very nice subdivisions with acreages 3-5 acres in several of them ... this allows you to decide to live close to your job or closer to your horse ... closer to your job is always the better choice ... without it you can't afford a horse ... lol ... if you see an empty pasture in these subdivisions with a small barn ... stop and ask about it ...
Use your job zip code and Cibolo tx on mapquest to get an idea of area I am speaking of ... 10-15 miles from work ..
here is a link of horse boarding places in that area ..
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=HORSE+BOARDING+CIBOLO+TX
Living close to i35 is a great area ... your best things are all located headed towards Austin from shopping to entertainment .. New Braunfels is fun .. etc etc ... and barrel racing ... there is a big double back to back covered arenas headed west on I-10 that you need to check out for barrel races ... used to be a lot of AQHA shows held there .. 2 shows running in reverse at the same time ... lol
And put Fredricksburg on your shopping and go see list .. also just driving 290 to Austin is a nice afternoon trip to see the country ...
HAVE FUN ... if you go to Market Square, Alamo and River Walk in downtown SA ... go with friends and have a nice day of fun ...
