Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | It's the middle of summer and it's HOT. Right now it's 95 but the last few days the humidity has been down. Usually it's in the high 90s with high humidity making the heat indexes usually around 107 give her take. I used to not have to be in the heat a whole lot but here lately I have. I can't stay in it for more than a couple hours before I am itching and really broke out. Like with a rash and some bigger whelps. It's especially bad on my neck and face. But it's in other areas too. Like yesterday it was all over my legs today it's my neck and face. I asked the dr and he just said to take an allergy medicin. That doesn't help. The only thing that helps is to get in the air conditioner and washing off the areas that itch. Does anyone else have this problem or know what it could be? |

Desiten and baby powder for those tender areas, keep hydrated and cool off as needed.

That's what I thought especially since we changed detergents but it only happens when I get hot and sweaty |

That's what I thought especially since we changed detergents but it only happens when I get hot and sweaty
That would make sense. When you sweat and the clothes get wet the soap comes loose from the clothing and attaches to the skin. |

My daughter has to extra rinse all of her stuff or she will be itching like crazy, including welts.

I wouldn't say your allergic to the sun but to the heat it causes.....
My great Uncle on my dads side of the family was actually allergic to his own sweat!
He and his wife owned a small dairy farm during the depression and because of his sweating he had to quit working outside. He took over the house and wife became the bread earner. He could work outside if he stopped before he start sweating only, if he didn't he would develope a rash/itching/hugh welps and actually get terribly sick. His doctor had no reason /cure for this problem. He was in WWII and developed it during that time which got him a honorable discharge.

Location: Woodstown, NJ | I've heard of people having kind of an allergy to the sun. Sometimes it has something to do with medications they are taking. Sometimes it has to do with their immune systems. I have a friend who has some kind of syndrome, can't remember exactly what it is, but she can't let the sun on her face or she gets rashes. Do the easiest thing and test the laundry detergent suggestions first and see if that helps. |

Location: Heart of Texas | If it is the detergent with fragrance added, it could be what is setting off.
I'm kind of on a one woman crusade to enlighten people of the dangerous toxins used to make fragrance. I don't have time to type my story out, but I promise the toxins they used are not good. I'm not talking about bleach, gas, etc.. It is what they use to make those smells. Everything has fragrance in it nowdays. If it's in your detergent or fabric softener, you are actually wearing the poison on your skin. Just google "dangers of fabric softeners" and tons of info comes up.

I get the no fragrance cheap brand of detergent for my daughter and still do the xtra rinse. Other wise, she breaks out in welts and itchies.
It also would not hurt to run some vinegar through you wash to neutralize any build up in your machine. |

Yeah. Many years ago my mom hit upon Tide as the only detergent the family members didn't react to if it didn't get rinsed out completely. I still use the basic powder. I've learned not to screw with this. Trying new things just leads to skin problems.

I use Sun "free and clear" I'm actually not even sure what's in it but it doesn't make me break out in rashes or itch like EVERYTHING else does... I've got skin issues and allergies so bad I have to special order shampoo bars from out of state free of everything I'm allergic to |

Well, since I already had an appointment with the dermatologist for last Monday I asked him AGAIN about allergies to the sun. He said it was pretty common. He also said it really was a good thing because it would keep you from getting in the sun. I guess it is a good thing that medicine continues to make advancements. As far as medication for the problem, I did not ask since he said stay out of the sun. Some of us have to be in the sun on occasion so I guess sunscreen. I put a bunch on anyway. |
