I noticed my whole re cleaned racehorse oats are slightly green at one end. Definitely NOT mold. We have had really unusual humid weather and a few rain storms lately. Very weird for us. I keep them in an aluminum/steel trash can in the shade by my hay. Lid on tight. Any ideas? Thanks.

They could be sprouting...it's not unheard of.  I'm not sure but I don't think it will hurt to feed them but it can throw your ration off.  If sprouted your DM goes down and you have more of a forage then a grain if that makies sense.

They're probably germinating.  People eat sprouted grain tho, so they should be Ok, I would think.

Thanks that's what I thought. It's only the tips of them that are slightly green so hopefully i will use them up soon enough! Or I might be growing my own oat hay. Lol
