| I've been thinkin about cutting my hair off and on for a long time and just feel like I want a change! It was about 2-3 inches past my boobs and I cut it off up to the length it is now in the picture because I was sick of my dead ends. Lol. It's kinda uneven so don't pay attention to that! Haha. I would like a sexy shoulder length/a little past it or a long angled bob or someday a pixie but I don't wanna go that short for a long time. What do you all think? I have thin hair and am afraid it may look like I don't have a lot of hair. Is it easier to take care of? Look ok with a cowboy hat? Life's short so I just wanna do it but am hesitant at the same time! I also need to find a good hair dresser to do it. Show me your hairstyles, experiences, and opinion on if I should!

Location: Montana | Do it! I did it 2 years ago and loved it (I donated my hair to Locks of Love) and I plan on doing it again this fall. For me short hair is much easier to take care of because mine tangles so bad (my hair is thick, but fine and straight as string). I'm *thinking* about going for a pixie this time. I don't have any pics of my hair on this computer, but I'm pretty sure you would like a bob. Go to hairfinder.com...they have every hairstyle I think you could possibly think of on there...to get some different ideas. Good luck! :) |

Location: Minnesota | My hair at its longest was down to the bottom of my back. I cut my hair into an inverted bob(short in the back and longer in the front) and I loved it. It actually made it look like I had thicker hair. My hair has been falling out for the last couple years and cutting it short really helped. Im in the process of growing it back out but when it was really short I loved it. |

| Thank you guys for the advice!! I'm thinkin I'm gonna do it but I'm very nervous! I guess it depends on the length or style but is it hard to just throw into something when you don't wanna fix it? More times than none I put my hair in a pony tail or in a braid because I'm lazy. Lol |

| I cut about 6 inches off my hair about 2 months ago, and I am so glad I did it. It wasn't terribly long, maybe came down to the middle of my back. I have always had long hair. I had a traumatizing experience when I was a kid about cutting my hair short, and in general, was afraid my face shape wouldn't look good with short hair. So, I'm heading back to get my color touched up and cut off again SHORTER than the first time.
Short hair is soo much easier to deal with. It dries faster, it doesn't take as long to style, and yes you can still throw it in a pony tail, or baseball cap.
ETA: This is the picture I showed my stylist when I went in. So, it's about that length.

| I love that hairstyle! I actually have that picture as one of the ones that I would like! I'm glad I'd still be able to put it in a pony tail or a ball cap too. I also have been worried that my face shape wouldn't look good but I actually have a twin sister who got her hair cut off about 5 years ago and it looked awesome on her so maybe a change will look good on me too |

| Your hair looks awesome!! I'm glad to hear everyone could still do a pony tail. I think I'm shooting for a little below shoulder length and slightly angled and layered! |

That would be cute--like a reverse long bob. I did that while mine was growing out. |

| This is what I'm going for and I think I found someone to do it! I've heard good reviews and seen pictures of similar hairstyles she's done and they look good. She may be able to do it tomorrow so if she does, wish me luck! I'll post pictures once I'm done. Pray it comes out the way I want it lol

Location: Kentucky | Pixies rule. Seriously, I hacked off about 8 inches last October and never looked back. My hair is THICK and it only takes about 10 minutes to blow dry and style. With long hair, I wore it up in a pony tail all the time. It was boring. I saw that Kaley Cuoco chopped her hair off and took that picture to my hairstylist. Don't be scared!!
This is a goofy picture from this weekend. Under a cowboy hat I just brush my hair behind my ears and push the hat down. Works perfect.

This is when I first got it cut, so it's a bit longer here:

Last time I cut my hair, I went with Diana Agron type bob...I'll see if I can find a pic of it.

| I love your hair cuts!! I have really thought about the pixie but I think I'm going to ease my way into short hair first because I'm just not used to it and last time my hair was short was when I was little. Lol. Someday I hope I can get a pixie because I love them!! |

Location: Loma Linda, CA | I actually just chopped mine off last week.
It was pretty long, down to my mid-back, but I dye my hair a lot and it was pretty much dead and it's hot so I decided to do a chop off.
It was supposed to be shoulder length - oops lol!
But I actually like my hair short. It's long enough to still put up in a pony tail and doesn't take long to dry after a shower :P
And this was my hair before. I don't take many selfies this is the best I had lol

I'm actually cooler with my haircut. My hair is so thick that my stylist thins it down more with this haircut. If I want to keep it totally out of my face, I throw on a ballcap. |

| The best thing I've ever done was chop off my hair. I cut it last summer, and it was great. I got it shoulder length. After that, i did it even shorter, but didn't like it as much on me - and it wasn't enough to get into a ponytail while i ride. I just got it done again last week, still shoulder length with long layers. But I got it Balayaged (however you spell that) and it is GORGEOUS!! Highly recommend doing it!! And if you don't like it - it's a good thing hair grows ;) |

| Any pictures from the "older" group say 50 and older? I had shoulder length hair until about a year ago and cut it and now it just curls. I have natural curly/wavy hair and I color it. So basically I just wash and go in the summer. Still not quite what I want and my hair grows slow.... |

| So I got it done today!!! I went this morning and they totally did not do what I wanted and cut it way too short. I want it short but wanted to transition slowly and not do it today. It was not good and I was not happy so I went straight to a place I should have went to begin with and I made an appt for later in the day. They fixed it and it looks so much better! It wasn't what I expected but I like it! I want it to be more dramatic and more length in the front but I'll have to wait til it grows! Overall I'm liking it so far and I can somewhat fit it into a low pony tail that looks good in my cowboy hat

| Thank you everyone!! I really appreciate it! I'm really starting to like it and find that it looks cute in a poof or a low pony tail with a ball cap/ cowboy hat, etc. Now I just need to buy a straightener because it flips out a little. Lol. I have Paul Mitchell root lifter that I've had forever from winning it for a pageant, and I feel like it works pretty well too with my hair. My hair feels thicker and healthier and I'm startin to really like the short hair side of things |

| Presently, I`m wearing a bob hairstyle, but I give eye-teeth for cutting it short like you or like the girl on photo 8 from here . I really believe such a hairstyle is easy to wear. By the way, my hubby counts the moments before I get my pixie. He says I`ll be very attractive with short hair. |

Location: NE Texas | I still love your "do", Murphy. I've started letting mine grow back out. I didn't go nearly as short as you did, but did get the "let me talk to your supervisor" cut. It was cute, but when it started to grow up, all the curl made me have to flat iron it....BLAH! I just love your pixie and I think I had mine like that once and felt like I was the guy on Beetlejuice with the huge body and teeny little head. LOL |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I so wish I could pull off short hair but don't have the face for it and the shorter my hair gets the more unruly it gets, I was "blessed" with my momma's thick coarse not straight yet not curly hair, LOL!!! I thought I was ready a few years ago and did the A Line longer bob...Lets just say a woman that hates to do their hair, as in combing it probably shouldn't attempt that cut. And of course my hair that normally grows out of a cut I love quickly wouldn't get past my collar bones for love nor money. My sisters both keep their hair shorter and its adorable on them. Apparently those genes skipped me in the genetic order. So jealous of all of you that have "that face". But you suck too, LOL!!! |

And then I let it grow out to about shoulder length . . .

Now I don't do much with it. I cut about two feet off last August and it still comes down to midback. My hair grows FAST. It's always in a pony tail or braid anymore. So want to get it cut but want to lose some more weight first. Maybe next year. |

I think some day I will cut it shorter but we'll see! I think everyone can pull off short hair with the right cut, it all depends. I like the cuts I've seen so far, keep em comin :D |

About a month ago I had my below-the-shoulders hair cut off --got a bob but with REALLY short hair on the back. The front tapers to about chin length. Super easy. I use one of those hairdryer brushes so I dry and style at the same time. Sooooooo much easier to deal with and it looks super nice all the time. I had gotten so tired of a pony or just piling it up on top my head. I am older....as in 64. |
