Location: Oklahoma | Hello! Does anyone have any input on these horses? I have rode a few that were cutting bred but not famliar with the more reining bred types. I did a search on here but didn't find anything. Thanks in advance. |

| Own sons and daughters are real trainable. I've ridden two that I liked quite alot. As a whole, the ones I have been around and ridden are quiet minded and quick footed.
If you are looking at the line .... Walla Walla Whiz horses as a whole take MUCH longer to mentally mature. I've been around 3 now, and they ALL are fractious and take patience out the rear to work with. Not to say you can't make a heck of a horse out of them, BUT, they will take much longer than many other reining/cow horse options out there.
Good Luck and happy hunting! I love me some cow ponies!!! |

| I had an own son for a while and he was super to have around. He was a finished reiner and was bought as a beginner horse we loved having him here. He was athletic and kind and taught lots of young riders . I also have a mare whos sire has Topsail Whiz she is a 1D barrel horse and a reiner the fastest horse around a barrel I have ever had.

Me too, lol He's a very "old soul" type of horse. Totally chill about everything and up for whatever you want to do. The feed ordeal has our whole herd upside down and the horses that I had coming up for myself aren't going to be able to go to the arena as barrel horses.
With my limited time available with work and 4 kids I told Greg that I wanted something pretty and fun to ride...and Vincent appeared If he's any indication of what these bloodlines are like, I would take a whole barn full. |

 Mature beyond Years

Location: North of the 49th Parallel | I've rode 2 Conquistador Whiz's and they were both counterfit horses. Hated both of them. Rode a Walla Walla Whiz and he was just okay but like someone else said, wasn't going to mature enough to be a futurity horse and another mare out of a Topsail Whiz mare and she was decently nice but had more bad days than good days. So I'll be the odd person out and say they aren't my favorite. I'd probably have one in my barn to see if I could get along with one though.

| For reiners they are on the hotter side. Often have "funky front wheels" aka feet problems. They are quick and catty little boogers! |

Location: Friendswood, Texas | I have an own daughter of Topsail Cody. She has a very "can do" attitude and is constantly thinking. She's 14.2 and a catty little thing with speed to boot. She has a big heart and tries her best in the arena. I love her.

I'm not familiar at all with this line, other than the obvious successes. Do the leg issues tend to come from the top or bottom side of the pedigree, or do they just crop up anywhere?
My colt that I posted above is as correct as can be and has big solid feet. He doesn't look anything like his pedigree to me though....not a "reiner" type at all.

Location: Oklahoma | Bump....I'm interested in hearing more about the front leg issues mentioned above. |

Location: Friendswood, Texas | My mare is narrow based in the front but it has never been an issue with performance. I make sure she has bell boots on when riding since it's more possible she'll strike the inside of a lower front limb. The 8 hour marathon another member wrote about reminded me of when I took her to the beach with some friends. One girl's horse got away from her and CP and I gave chase for over a mile, cornered the gelding in the dunes, and literally dragged him back to the rider. When I say she has heart and determination, I'm not kidding. AND.. It was her first time at the beach... |

| Disclaimer - this is only about the few I have ridden - not all fall under this. I'm talking own get of TW.
They tend to be made more narrow based in the front - ideal for spins in reining as they can really reach over in the front for some real dramatic turns, not so ideal for other disciplines. The couple I worked with had small feet that tended to be a bit shelly for my liking. They also tended to be "paddlers" so when on a run down for a slide, they'd smack their own legs - had to keep them booted up real well for protection.
Now, this is not to say that all own get will be like this. I highly doubt they are or they wouldn't be bringing the prices they bring. The above is only what I have experienced.
