I used to feed the Healthy Edge a few yrs ago. My barrel horse at the time (who is a very easy keeper) started losing weight on it. I feel its empty calories and not for horses with high caloric demands.
I have never had an issue with my horses maintaining on the TC senior.
My horses were on TC Senior and did really well with it... However, when I brought them back home, I couldn't get the TC Senior so I put them on Purina Senior Active.... They have blossomed and hold their weight with me riding... It is awesome stuff!
**I tried Strategy a while back and my guys lost weight. Not a fan of that stuff.
My mare had colic-like symptoms for the three years I had her on TC Senior. I never suspected it was her feed causing it until I was hearing other similiar stories. I pulled the TC, but her on Tribute, and she hasn't had a problem since then. Three years I dealt with her colicing. I tested the feed and it tested high in sulfur. Just a heads up.
I've never fed Strategy, so can't comment on that. If Bluebonnet, Renew Gold, or Tribute feeds are available in your area, I would try those.
Wow interesting ! Thanks guys ! I really dislike the regular strategy . I know a lot of horses in the strategy healthy edge .. I just can't decide what I think . I'm currently feeding the TC senior . I haven't had any issues with it , although I'll keep the sulfur in mind though. I know a barn that feeds 30 horses the strategy healthy edge & they all look amazing . I just can't tell if it quite puts the bloom on them .. But they are fat & shiny as can be !
