Any professionals run any famous grade horses in the past? |

| Why is it unfortunate? I would rather have a grade winner than a Dash Ta Frenchy 3d turd. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | Haha dash to frenchie 3d turd, yes I agree, I would take a grand horse if it was a 1/2d proven horse. I know someone that sold a grade gelding for 10k because he was jam up! Everything is just so....papered these days lol, and don't get me wrong mine are papered too but I've had a couple nice grade horses as well and sold them for a decent price. I knew history just couldn't get them registered |

Location: Arkansas | I have a 36 year old gelding that has never done anything "amazing" by most people's standards, but he's taken care of me from day one and provided just what I needed when I needed it---be it confidence or love or a mane to cry on. I love him to death, and he's worth his weight in gold to me! (I know this isn't what you meant but I had to brag on my Dan!!!) |

| I have a grade mare that is super nice, we have never won anything big but she ran in the 2D in Las Vegas at the NBHA supershow and runs locally 2D/1D against tough southern california competition. I do wish she was registered, just so I could know how she is bred, but I love her she is the best horse I have owned so far and tries so hard! |

Location: Texas | This is the nicest grade horse i've ever known.. I think she knows some of her breeding, but could never get papers, but this horse excels at anything you ask her to do and is extremely well behaved. She's a 6 figure horse if that says anything.. I just saw a video with her new owner and they look awesome together.

| Pecan is probably the best known. She wasn't just grade, she was a total mutt with some welsh pony and TB thrown in. But she made a ton of money and qualified for the NFR more than once with Molly Powell. |

Location: Carpenter, WY | I have a yearling right now that is bred to the 9's but will be grade. She is by Slim and the bottom of her pedigree has Blazin Te Bar, the sire to Brandie Halls NFR horse. The grade part comes from my good old grulla mare. Toni, the yearling is big and built! She would be the one on the far left in this pic http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/fine+fittin+jeans

I never realized that amazing pole horse was grade. The amazing thing is that she has done it with multiple riders. |

Location: Savannah, Tennessee | My current barrel horse is bottom 1D top of 2D and he is grade. My husband never sent in his papers, and now he's 12, a gelding and not worth the expense just to have a set of papers on him...so technically he is grade too. |

| I grew up on a ranch in E TX. We raised our own cow horses. That is all I had to ride. I had a little grade mare that was the one to beat around here. Back then we had play days and that was it. They were huge. Started at 9 am and were over at 6am the nest morning. My little 14 hand mare was high point every where we went. At the second TX State 4-H horse she was 16th in barrels out of about 200 entries. I really don't remember how many entries because that was 1965. I rode her in college rodeos and always won money. She was a touogh competitor.
Whitney Wells ran a paint gelding that was grade and she let a little bitty girl ride him at Josey Jr. World and won it. That is about the toughest competition in the US. |

Location: Where the buffalo roam | Molly is now running a daughter of Pecan that is going to be phenomenal. She is a futurity horse, but has already won pro rodeo money on her. I believe she is by DTF.
I had a grade mare that won pro rodeos and took me to circuit finals and currently run her baby. Not a world beater, but can hold his own. |

Location: Saskatchewan | My girl isn't amazing (yet) but does alright, first year running and clocks 2D easy if her jockey is paying attention. Lots of heart there and lots of room to kick some serious butt! I haven't got the slightest clue on her breeding either, just mutt QH lol

| I have two grade mares right now. 1 is 24 years old and was my first barrel horse. She is still running 2d/3d local and 3d/4d at bigger shows. My other mare is 17 years old. She is a little 14.2 thing, but tears it up at rodeos. She can handle any ground, and loves the atmosphere. She is in the top horses at rodeos, but we tend to be in the 2d at barrel races / jackpots. She is also a 19/20 pole horse, and can breakaway rope, etc.
The one thing these two horses have in common, is that they both have hearts bigger than this world. I wouldn't trade either for a papered horse.
Sorrel is 24. I leased her to a girl this year to go to youth world.
Gray is my rodeo horse.
