My horse isn't ulcer prone, but he does get previcox(no more bute if you've read my previous posts) but I would like to just make sure ulcers are never a problem. Should I treat for ulcers and then start the Uguard or treat while he's on uguard, or just start the uguard and not treat since he really doesn't show any signs.

I used u guard for years as preventative. But it is a acid buffer. Pretty much calcium and magnesium based. Although safe-er, long term use of acid buffers also comes with some pretty significant risk. Horses need acid to digest. I would suggest cur ost stomach formula. It does the same thing but does not block or stop acid production.
I your horse is not ulcer prone I would not treat for ulcers. You can feed U Gard as a preventative. I have fed it for years without a problem. I have a bucket in the feed room now that I was going to give to my trainer but she says nothing bothers my horse so I guess I will just keep it.

U7 would be more quivalent to the cur ost products, correct? Thats what I got from reading up on them plus U7 is quite a bit cheaper to feed.
They are fairly close in price. Maybe 20 dollars difference. TO me thats pretty close anyway. The purity of the curost ingredients is why it makes it more.
