Location: SE Louisiana | I used to have a horse that I could ride through a creek or a river..... But riding down a dirt road WOULD NOT step in a puddle in the road. Those were monsters that would gobble down a horse in one bite. She gave them a WIDE berth... (nope..Nope... NOPE!! Ain't 'goin There!!) |

| I have one mare who refuses to get wet. Period. As long as she can do something about it, she will. She will NOT go through a puddle, I could never get her to stand in a creek to drink. She leaps across anything to avoid walking through water. AND it's not just her feet. I have seen her high tail it across the pasture to hide in her stall at the slightest hint of a sprinkle. If we're at a show and it starts to rain, she will whinny and paw and holler at the trailer until I come and load her up so she can stand in the dry. She is ROTTEN! |

I have a big gelding that I think is part cat---if he gets his feet wet you can almost see him pick them up and shake them like "oh heck no"! And is a prima Donna about the rain also. . . . |

Location: Southern Oregon | I have one gelding that will jump and land 6 feet into the creek, shake and jump a again until he is out of it. He will go through water with encouragement. I tried to take him swimming in the creek below my house. It gets super deep in one spot and I wanted him to swim through it to the better not as deep swimming hole. Well he SANK! lol he is not a swimmer, but he absolutely LOVES the hose and the irrigation sprinklers. |
