| have a gelding that is 12 years old; normally every year when they go to the vet they have their vaccinations; teeth done and sheath cleaned - is there anything else that we should be doing? just want to make sure that he stays good/healthy - |

| Lameness exam, my vet will put his hands on him from head to hoof looking for sore spots, watch him move in his very hard round pen, flex joints and watch him move off. Progress from there, X-ray , chiro, acupuncture, injections if necessary, depends on what the horse is telling him. |

Location: Oklahoma | I have a full soundness exam done prior to hauling and legging one up. Horses are a perishable item, like eggs. They can be sound and no maintenance issues one day and broke down the next. I know my body is falling apart and I am fighting it every step of the way, the horses are no different. I want them feeling their best, so they get more routine care and preventative maintenance than I do. |
