I don't recognize anything for 4-6 generations back. Doesn't mean she's not a nice gal, her sire sure looks good. She has a lot of names I recognize, Peppy San, Colonel Freckles, Dry Doc, Leo, Leo San, Sugar Bars... Some of the Dry Doc and Poco-anything are known herda carriers. So, if you're going to breed her to another cow bred, I would be sure she is negative for that. Sugar Bars has a lot of TB. Otherwise, there are lots of members of a couple of halls of fame back in her breeding and a couple of world champions.

What are you planning on doing with her? Maybe I just don't know the closer names because they're not local to where I live, but... She isn't what I would consider a fancy, name brand mare. Her babies might not have any big money names on their pedigrees. But, if the locals are familiar with her parents or gran parents, there might be some resale for her babies. But, if I liked her, I wouldn't turn away from her as a performance horse prospect.

Plenty of those big name, world champion horses were bred to anyone who would pay. Her genetics are definitely there. Who knows, you might just have found the right combination of genes to make a world champion cutter.

Thank you for your response! She is definitely very cowy! I bought her from a friend of mine who raised her. She's smart as a whip, fast, and catty. Still pretty green but she's coming along nicely. She's a beautiful dark bay, the only thing I don't like about her is her back is a little on the longer side but she moves very nice. She's a very forward mover I love that about her, she really reaches. I'll try to upload a video of her from this weekend.

JMO, but when I'm looking at the shorter cowbred horses, I want their back to be a tad long.  I like little horses that move big, the shorter choppier strided ones aren't my thing, and the longer back seems to help with that and flexibility.

Colonel Hotrodder horses tend to be nice and quick footed.  I don't really know much on the pedigree until him, but that doesn't mean a whole lot .... Good Luck!  I hope you found a fun one!

I'm a big fan of the Colonel Hotrodder line. We have a 19 year old daughter that is now our son's horse, although I wouldn't be afraid to get on her and go do any job. She's been used for just about everything - ranch work, heading, heeling, barrels, breakaway, and she was quick enough she could have been a bulldogging horse. My retired gelding was by Three Jay Colonel, a son of Colonel Hotrodder. Very athletic, friendly, and had a lot of heart. He had some front leg issues, but was still a solid 2D horse and won some money at amateur rodeos. The vets couldn't believe how bad both of his front feet were after reviewing his MRI because he never showed to be that lame. I wonder what he could have done running on 4 good legs.

That's the closest up that I recognize anything.
