| Looks like I'm out awhile. Any suggestions on at home therapy? I've got BOT wraps but it's so hot I don't leave them on during day. I'm looking at being out at least 9 months. So frustrating. |

Location: Oklahoma | I guess you're past the point of using Runners Relief if you're already on to BOT? Shockwave treatments helped my horse, but it's not an at home theraphy. I did BOT every night, all night during the winter months. Good luck, suspensory injuries stink! |

Location: Piedmont, OK | As long as there is not heat you can do DMSO & Furazone wraps as well. I alternated DMSO Furazone with Back On Track on my gelding when he tore his. I also fed him Cissus by Animal Element. He was sound at 7 months. I was originally told 9 months to a year.

| First tear I did PRP, runners relief sweat at night, iced and magnets during the day. He healed beautifully by 7 months but gave him 10 months off, came back 100%. I only kept him stalled for a month, small pen for a month then turn out for a few hours by 3 months, full turn out month 4. 5 years later he has a tear on other rear in his branch, following same protocol. 6 week ultrasound showed tear almost all filled in but found a new tear :(- vet suspects it was part of the original injury but had not progressed enough to see on ultrsasound. I let him have turnout at 2 weeks- he is not a happily stalled horse.

^^ I did that. My mare is a bit odd and I can't wrap anything around her hind legs. She gets into a stomping fit, which is not what you want with a suspensory.
Luna was off for over a year with a combination of a hind suspensroy and a bad case of EPM. Not sure what came first. She was never lame on that leg and we found the suspensory by accident when we did a bone scan in December. I was very surprised about that diagnosis.
I finally started riding her again about 3 months ago - we made a little practice run yesterday and it went well. Those things just take time and patience.... Good luck. |

Sorry I don't have any advice

Location: Sunnyland Florida | After no success with "stalling" and traditional methods, I took the Vet's advice I should have in the beginning. Turn them out - out in the pasture - to run, play, walk and eat --- for a year, and do nothing to them.
I did this on a large rear suspensory tear and the horse recovered 100% and has been running almost 10 years since at the top of his game. Nature has a funny way of fixing things. Thank you Lord.

| I'm too scared to just turn him out. He's such a scaredy cat and runs and bucks all the time. I don't think he would ever heal. I feel he would keep tearing it. He's content in his stall thank goodness bc it looks like he's going to be there awhile. Thanks for suggestions. |
