I know, I know, another post about sweat patterns.
Can y'all check these out? My whole hand fits inside these dry spots. I've been riding in a treeless saddle, but it does not give me enough wither clearance. My horse is NOT in shape right now, so I'd hate to purchase a new saddle until he gets his body back, but I do have access to this saddle for a while. Please tell me what you think.

Nice big dry spots. My saddle does same thing and my horses seem to be fine. I think we all can get so wrapped up in these saddles etc. if your horse doesn't get a sore back I wouldn't worry about it.

Ruffled hair IMO is worse then dry spots as in that spot the saddle is making infrequent contact causing the ruffled hair.

Have one saddle that does It to a my flat backed horses, one horse actually began bucking because of the saddle.

So I'm thinking if it ain't broke don't fix it. I will just have to keep an eye on his sweat patterns as he gets back into shape. I'd like to have him fitted for a saddle bUT I think it would be pointless while he's still out of shape. It was recommended to me to buy a saddle too big and just shim until he can fit into it but that seems awfully risky.
