Looking for a company near MN that sells drain tile or something similar! We get horrible mud behind the barn and I really want something that will keep the area level and mud free! I know Classic Equine and the company that sells Polylast flooring sell drain tiles but one only services down south and the other was expensive and kept giving me the run around on pricing when I asked. OR if you know of something cost effective that keeps mud down let me know!
Do you have a local farmer/company that does farm drainage? Or try a construction company, they may have some ideas or send you in the right direction? Or you may just need to rent a ditcher/trencher to allow the water to run away from the barn. Just some ideas!
Call your local farmers co-op. They'll point ya in the direction of a contractor that will sell and install for you.
The drain tile in fields is the same stuff you can use around barns.
ETA - on top of the drain tile, layer different sized rock - larger near the tile up to smaller stuff where the horses stand. Don't bother with much dirt but small rock/screenings will be fine if you're really batteling the mud. You will have to clean occasionally to keep the manure from building up.
I would start with a local excavating company, sewer systems are pretty much the same as what you're looking for, so look for a septic installation company and go from there.
I would make sure they are deep enough down and properly installed. My friend had a horse sink down into a drain tile sink hole and die this year in a rented pasture. Too much of the top soil had washed away and the horse fell through.
