My horse currently runs with out issue in a D ring snaffle....He is 8 yrs old, had a late start in life as far as breaking/riding etc (he was 4.5 yr old). We are just starting to clock in the bottom of the 3D, no issues.
At some point, shouldn't he be moving on to another bit?

I also would stay with that as long as possible. If you do need a small step up eventually maybe something like a goostree simplicity, sweet 6, or myler hbt would be options to look at.

I have a horse I run in a smooth D ring. I tried a Loomis it worked well but went back to my D ring. If it aint broke don't fix it. the horse is extremely powerful and its pretty cool when people see her run hard, stop light as a feather and walk out of the arena loose on a snaffle.

Thank you everyone for your replies...I was thinking the same (keeping it) but just wasn't sure! He does work well in it and I have no problems with him not listening.
