Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the broke hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Feeling depression makes you feel like a squashed bug on the sidewalk. It's hard to do things for yourself, much less someone else. We can understand what the Pslamist means to " be" crushed in spirit . Your soul feels trampled.
Even when we give our life to Jesus, it is sort of desperate, last ditch effort. PLease Jesus, help me. We at times don't want to exits anymore. We feel broken , tired, achy and transparent. We become ready to be blown out like a candle in the wind.
We don't feel Jesus near us. We feel stupid praying to Him when we couldn't even feel Him there. And right after we give our life to Jesus, we expect some choir of angels to come down or maybe helps us feel lighter or happier. But we don't feel anything.
In weeks to follow, we start being aware of comforting presence with us, the feeling creeps up slowly until one day, we realize we don't feel alone anymore.
We ALL go through times when our spirit is flayed and beaten. It's even harder because we don't feel Jesus is there. Those are the times we need to just cling to the knowledge that Jesus is close to the broke hearted. DON'T GIVE UP!
Write Psalm 34:18 on a index card and keep it with you, so you can remind yourself daily. It will help you trust in the Word of God where He promises to be with you when you are broke hearted , even if you can't feel Him. God never breaks His promises..
Father God, guide me today to do all things that bring glory and honor to You AMEN
For it is WITH God ALL things are possible.
