My horse is somehow cutting his coronary band on a hind leg in his stall at night. Started earlier this summer and it was very superficial. I chalked it up to an accident as there is nothing he can get hung up on in his stall. Started putting a bellboot on it to protect it at night and get it healed. Well just about as soon as it's healed up he does it again!! He lays down religiously at night and i can only guess he is doing it to himself when he is getting up?! Ideas on how to fix/ control / prevent this? I am at a loss and it's getting a little ridiculous. He has done it a few times WITH the bell boot on, but it does move around of course somewhat.

Check for sharp edges on the shoes or nails poking out. Also, check for sharp objects anyplace he can get a foot UNDER when he is laying down in the stall.
