I'm guessing they will start hitting the barrel pen in the next couple of years as his track babies haven't been running that long. I have a 2 coming 3 yo that I will just be starting on the pattern in the next month. I can say that he is so willing and show him something once and he gets it. He has a full brother (3 YO) in Georgia that is started on the pattern. I have a friend in the race horse industry that said everyone on the track really likes them because of how trainable they are. I would be interested to hear what others have to say.
A friend of mine has one and the RSC gelding is her most favorite in the barn. He's turing into a pretty solid 1D horse in Texas at only 4. But, you also have to take into consideration that my friend could turn a 3 legged donkey into a 1D performer, lol.
Someone back east had one (Togies Red Cat) that did fairly well last year in the futurities. I still have mine and he shot up in the last two years and is nearly 15.3. Because he grew so fast I've had to back off of him due to not being able to keep weight on him and some soreness (I really think he has had growing pains). He is really watchy and a little reactive as he's gotten older. I am not going to push him just to make the early 5 year old futurities.
Red Storm Cat is Future Fortunes, Select Stallion Stakes and Colorado Classic.
