Saw this on the news last night, I know we have a few BB's that live there, I know for sure that Bear and his wife are there, I think Klugman, {not sure of the spelling of this name} is there too. Homes have been lost and more are in the path of the fire.
This happened about 4 years ago and its happening again, Prayers going out to the people of Bastrop

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm worried because I'm up in Minnesota working, but I'm coming home tomorrow. Carol is managing OK, and that fire is probably 8-10 miles away. The smoke is getting worse, and supposedly the fire is moving away, more toward Elgin. It's more heavily wooded over there, and I'm worried about those folks. There have been some homes lost.
When I left home on Tuesday, the fire had just started and only involved about 120 acres. Now it's up over 10,000 acres, I think. No rain in sight and today will be hot again. If the wind shifts we could be in trouble.

I made a mistake. It's 4200 acres. In 48 hours it has grown from 120 acres.

Wow, that is crazy scary. I remember donating a bunch of stuff in 2011, and now they are going through it again. So sorry.   Hope they can get it under control fast!!!

It's just across the highway from where my dad lives. He lost his house last round. I'm praying they get these under control. The area shown used to be covered with trees. Not anymore.

So sad for this area, many prayers.   It was still burnt up looking from the last fires and just starting to recover a little.  Took my breath away to drive by there and see all the burned areas.

Seems like so many places are dry dry dry. We were coming home from work yesterday and there was a huge smoke cloud towards our house. A deputy passed us; turned out it was a farmer burning a rice field in an old fish pond. The levees were disked up, so I think he was legal for the burn ban. It was a scary sight until I knew what it was though.

My pastures are soooo dry, I worry about fires out here, I have a pasture in the front and back of my house that meet my front yard and back yard, we keep it mowed really short around our house, the grass crunches when you walk on it.

Hopefully in the next day or so they'll be at 100%

Our grass crunches too and dead as a door knob. And Lord you could lose a dog in some of the cracks we have. We have our first real chance of real rain this weekend (since June). I can't remember when we were this dry for this long before

Yea, I hear ya. We have cracks all over. No wonder though, after a couple of months without any rain of significance... But it looks like we will be getting some over the weekend.
I just scares me to see people still flicking burning sigaret butts out of vehicles.... I see it happen at least 2-3 times a week.... SMH....
