I just went down and tried a new way to debot my horse, can't believe how easy it was and that I didn't think of it sooner.  I went to the bathroom and got one of my new disposable razors, worked like a charm.  Only downfall was that you have to scrap it on your pant legs often to remove all the debrie.  I have also used a razor blade that was set between two pieces of plastic kinda like a comb but that blade is rusty.  Next time I go shopping I am going to get a comb blade and just a single or double blade razor.  The one today was a triple, I don't think the others would clog up with debrie as fast.  Just wanted to share!!!!!

Easiest, safest and most complete way of removing them is

Water, white vinegar and a towel.

Warm water in micro, rub mixture on legs with towel and sort of hold it for a bit.

They will usually brush off. You are also killing the larva so you are breaking the cycle.

Used to use the disposable razor back in the Dark Ages, when I was in 4H. I found it too difficult to get in the nooks and crannies so I just end up picking them off one at a time.

I will have to try the vinegar thing.

I've always used a cloth with desil pored on it, doesn't take a lot, kills the bot eggs and within a few days they brush right off.

I use a bot knife that works pretty good, but always looking for a faster way of getting rid of the bot eggs, sometimes I just get out my shers that I use for bridle paths and lighty shave them off if theres a bunch. But always willing to try something new

Those little "horse shave" razors work for me! After you've used them a while and they get dull, instead of throwing them away, they make perfect bot egg removers!

I use the "Slick n Easy" Block (I think that's the name of it. It's black & has a smell) my husband calls it a "fart-block" LOL anywho, they are large & scrape off eggs very easily.

So, the razor works a little too good!!!  I should've used it on something else before I guess... but it took the hair right of him....
So, I tried the slick&easy block, and it takes a bit of elbowgrease, but the eggs do come off.... without taking too much of his hair.... lol. I will try the razor again when I have used it enough to be dull.

Stupid bots should be gone by now, grrrr! Tried the vinager and warm water and the only thing it did was make it wet. Got a safety razor and it doesn't work so well with the beginnings of a winter coat. So pick them off one at a time I did, worst case of them all year. Kept the warm water to rinse my fingers off every few picks, so it was loaded with eggs. And don't you know, the last mare decided to take a sip of the egg infested water before I could stop her. GRRRRRR!!!!
