Location: Deep South | I have used a broker for both buying and selling, as long as you use someone reputable it is well worth the money. I hate dealing with the hassle of answering hundreds of the same questions over and over again when selling, getting to my boiling point with tire kickers. Brokers make all of that so much more pleasant.
You: Here is my horse. Here is my bottom dollar on horse.
*X amount of time passes*
Broker: Here is your check.
Happy dance!
Your location should determine who you use. |

Location: TX | This is a good topic! I used a horse broker before and had zero issues with them, granted it's been years ago. They were in Oklahoma and both times it was pleasant, with no surprises.
After a recent experience, I will re-think sending a horse to be sold to anyone, unless I am within driving distance and I personally know people who will provide references. Those references will not come from the broker, but from clients and customers alike. |

Location: MD | There are many variables that go into choosing the right broker for your sale horse. Location is definitely one of them. I also like to match horses to the brokers with the right clientle for your animal. If you have a rodeo horse, make sure that you send it to someone who is known for making/selling rodeo horses. If it's a push style horse, get it to someone who does well with those sort, etc... I also find that it is sometimes a better investment to spend a bit more to send them to someone who can command a higher asking price. Yes, there are those people who can get far more for your horse, simply because they are the one selling it. |
