I have been in February and in June.  It was cold and icy in February and hot in June.  We went to the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Both were ok but nothing exciting for me.  You have to really like older music to appreciate it I think.  I would choose the GOO before the Hall.  Go downtown and hop in a bar and listen to some live music.  That was my favorite.  We did a mystery theater tour in February that was a lot of fun.  Can't remember the name but you hopped on a pink bus and rode around town while the actors did a show and then had a really good meal.

I would visit in October, April or May. The weather will be best then. In October, the leaves are all changing and the drive outside the city is gorgeous. Definitely check out the Grand Ole Opry and the Opry Mills hotel. Heading downtown (Broadway) to the bar/shopping scene is pretty fun too.

Yes! The weather is beautiful during spring and fall, great for bar hopping and walking Broadway
BUT If you don't mind the cold, Christmas time is by far the most beautiful. I would stay at Opry Land hotel for sure. I've stayed there many times. I grew up just an hour North of Nashville and we went to Opryland at least once every Christmas.
I would get tickets to the Grand Ol Opry one night, too. Just so you can say you did it:) It's quite an experience. I've seen Brad Paisely play there, George Jones (RIP), Alan Jackson and many others.
OR- If you like crowds and excitement, go in the summer time during CMA Fest!
So what did I narrow it down to... Fall, Spring, Summer or Winter..? Lol
You'll love it!!

Depending on what you like any time of year. But there's always something going on Broadway.  Nashville is a great town to visit. But depending on what your personal preference is there could be better times to visit.

It really depends on what you like ? If you love everything Christmas then you must go in the winter as it is simply beautiful but if you are wanting to experience the "music" side and go bar hopping I would go in the fall when the scenery is beautiful and weather is perfect for bar hopping. CMA is awesome too ! Nashville has no bad time to visit it just depends on what you prefer.... We have lived two hours from Nash our whole life.

The weather is really nice in the fall, but if you go in November or December you can see the beautiful Christmas decorations at the Opryland hotel. The country music hall of fame is also a must see! There are tons of bars and honky tonks up and down Broadway also.

I've been there every two months since June to see the surgeon who did my arthroscopic surgery on my hip.  I have another appointment November 30.  Safe to say, I have seen a lot of Nashville on crutches- even going up and down Broadway.  There's lots to do and lots of different areas of Nashville.  If you want to party Broadway would be it- first of October we went to Tootsies.  Great bar, a band on each floor playing music. Personally, we like to find a spot in a bar and people watch on Broadway.  When it was warm we went to Rock Bottom and sat on the roof bar and watched the pedal bars pedalling around.  Last trip, I bet we ran into at least 5 different bachelorette parties out on the town.  We used Yelp to find restaurants- we haven't really ate a bad one yet.

I've been during the summer and it was HOT. If I ever get to go back it will be at Christmas and I'll stay at Opry Mills hotel. I've seen tons of pictures and videos and it is absolutely beautiful during Christmas.

Heck with Trashville... Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg !!!!

I'm with you, komet!!

To the OP, my DH and I have been through there several times on our way to Gatlinburg or Chattanooga, or most recently Atlanta. We always stop at historical destinations and have found some good stuff! Before I go all into that....does that kind of thing interest you?

If you go to the Ryman Theatre take the guided tour. The stories you will hear about the legends of country music make it well worth the money (and it's not that expensive to begin with).
