| Need to engineer an eye patch for my mare (the one with the bowed tendon). I'm not sure what her deal is lately lol. She has a small ulcer, not terrible but I want to keep it dark. I have gauze and elastokin all over her head. She's not happy.... but I need something I can take off and on to medicate the eye. Any ideas? Pictures would be awesome if anyone has any.. |

I have done that in the past, but my fly masks were lost in my move to the new place. |

 Own It and Move On
Location: The edge of no where | I'd make the trip to town and get a fly mask. Put duct tape over that eye. Eyes aren't something to mess around with. |

Now thats a good ideal Bibs.. To the OP, I would just go buy another fly mask, sounds really simple and easy |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | I second the Bra idea! It really does work. And easy to make two and be able to wash one in between. I have also sewn a bra cup into an old fly mask. Works better/cleaner than sticky duct tape and keeps a nice cup over the eye.
But...if you are like me...you may have to go buy a couple. Mine are small! LOL
As others have stated...eyes aren't to be messed around with. If they have an ulcer you may need atropine for pain/dilating the eye and antibiotics...sometimes more than one...and sometimes antifungal and other things if it persists. I never wait...I take one to the vet if it's an eye issue. |

| The horse looks so thrilled! Thanks y'all. She currently has a batman bib on her eye lol. I will be going to get her a fly mask after work today, I just couldn't yesterday evening. My vet has looked at her. Her eye took up very little stain. We are using an antibiotic ointment and anti-inflammatory. She's not painful currently. Will be re-staininig in a few days to make sure she's good.
Thanks agian :)
I will definitely have to keep the bra thing in mind. |

| Surely at least 1 cup would fit over an eye. The other one could be completely removed or cut away. You could rig the rest of the bra to a halter or something if it didn't go all the way around the head.
When all else fails, use a male protective device...It would then become an eye cup. |
