I would just spend the money and get one from the manufacturer. I would be afraid that a horse would get a leg under a homemade one and it would result in a disaster.

This was our old trailer. We put in a piece of plywood to use the first stall for storage. I put it in with u-bolts so I could remove it when I needed all 3 stalls.
But I am sure you can saw off the protuding part of the u-bolts if you need it for a horse.
I left it all the way to the floor, so no problem with feet sticking underneath.

We used a thick rubber mat in our old trailer and it worked great so we could haul stuff in the front stall. I don't have any pictures of it, but we got the idea from a website called todd redwrench I think?

What did you use to hold the may in place?

We used some plywood; left it about 12" off the floor.

I shouldn't have said "we" did anything, my husband did it all and I don't really know how he did it lol!!
Here's the link that explains it all, this guy is awesome. http://todd.redwrench.com/additions.html#nogo

We bought one of th black stall mats from Tractor Supply and the husband attached it to the divider with self tapping screws. Has worked wonderfully and it's been there for well over 5 years.

I believe the stud Divider in my trailer was homemade with diamond plate. Just weld it up to the existing slant
