I'm about a week from completing the 28-day ulcer medicine and now I'm looking for a good preventative. I'm pretty green in this area as I've never had to deal with ulcers before!! What's the best out there?? Thanks in advance!

Alfalfa, access to hay/pasture 24/7 and no grain. If you have those three you won't need to have medicinal preventatives from what I have read. My boy had ulcers so bad and got so skinny I could count the vertabrae on his back bone. A diet change and he has never had them again. It's been almost 2 years. If you are one to feed grain don't feed one with molasses in it and make sure it's made in an Ionophone free feed mill. Lots of info here about that. Message rachellynn89 for more info on that and what mills are free and what feed is safe. Also, message winwillows on here about the amount of forage a horse should be getting daily. Winwillows can give you the exact number of pounds of forage your horse needs. If the horses basic needs are covered you shouldn't have a problem with Ulcers as far as I understand.

I feed beautiful alfalfa... Not sure how many pounds but a heavy 2 flakes twice a day. I also feed a scoop of whole oats so I have something to put his Forco (just started) in. He looks really good and feels good...hopefully he works really good again!!

THE has gastroPLUS full dose or you can feed their daily supplement that you can add it as a prevent or even double strength ulcer prevent in Performance Formula or Muscle Mass.
