They work great! They are cheap at $23 and can last up to 4 months or 700 gallons. Super easy to use, and super small- you can store them anywhere! At youth world I did a "test" had four water buckets in the stall-two of Georgia water and two of the Horse Hydrator. My mare is a great drinker on the road-drank water at the fair grounds, but it really showed me that it worked because my mare drank every last ounce of water out of the HH bucket and didnt even touch the water from Georgia. Been using it every where I go. Wont leave without it!
They super affordable and worth it! I have a good drinker and this made her a better drinker. I could a difference in the color and smell of the water. I bought mine through United Vet Equine and got coupon for a free one!
They look like a great product, I planned on ordering a couple and just forgot about it. I did have a friend tell me you can buy a similar product at Walmart for a lot less. I have not looked into that however. I have a very picky drinker.
I can't find anything where is says how to tell once it's used up- I know it says 4 months or 700 gallons, but how do you know once you've exceeded the 700 gallons?

I know the people that invented it very well.... they are from my area (cental wisconsin). They are worth it. Definitely made a difference in my horses where I don't haul my own water.
