Location: Cocoa, Florida | I have a mare I'm training for a friend, just had a chiropractor work on them and today I noticed she's really stiff to the left side and has trouble loping to the left. she seems like she's not wanting to use her hind end as well either, she's trying to work but she can't and when I tied her to the trailer today she stood parked out for a while. I know it can be a broad spectrum but any suggestions? Parked out is usually feet or can it be anything?
She seems fine to the right side |

Location: Mountains of VA | Since she lopes o.k. to the right but not the left, I think it is a pain issue on her right side. Either her stifle or hock but I vote stifle first. |

I agree about stifles and hocks. A lameness exam is in order. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | She's 5 and hasn't been ridden hard, stifles and hocks often get blamed for a lot of other causes but X-rays are definitely in order soon! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Was she stiff and sore befor the Chiro worked on her? Was this the reason for the Chiro work? My horse would park out when his gut hurt, he would be having a mild case of gas colic. |

I was wondering some of this too. Did the chiro adjust her and possibly her muscles aren't used to the new and proper location so they are stiff and sore? |

Yes she was but not nearly as bad and I flexed her myself (I'm no expert) I lifted her back legs both came up Nicly and I stretched them, not sure if he made her worse but that was last week? |

Location: Oklahoma | They will definitely camp out if stifles are sore. They also won't want to take the lead to the worse side. It may be ovaries, too, or sore back....but I ride geldings, so not sure about mare maladies!! lol |

What is the best way to check stifles? X-rays or just flex test? |

Both, plus ultrasound to check the ligaments. |

Same here. When my gelding camps out, I know for sure its not his ovaries bothering him. |

Location: Florida.. | Ive never known one to but then again not many with stifle issues so apologize for that comment.. I think I say ovary because shes a 5 yr old mare and sometimes they can be quite painful at that age.. and some including my mare can get a bit colicy or lay down.. but its one sided as well.. she parked out |

Location: Oklahoma & Texas | Something for sure is up ....I'd get em vetted and I'd get some feet xrays...navicular horses will camp out to relieve pressure same with stifles...wouldn't want to cause more damage by letting it go |
