ICSI is where they harvest an oocyte from a mare and inject a single sperm into it. It is the method of choice for deceased stallions with limited volumes of frozen semen, as they can take frozen semen doses and dilute them even more for ICSI straws. It was originally intended for problem mares that can still produce eggs but for one reason or another are not even good candidates for ET, so they take the oocyte out of the ovary before it's ovulated and mature it in the lab. |

Any one know the cost on that?
Seems like it would be pricey.

about 8000-10k
so the ICSI procedure adds about 4k on top of the ET you have to then do which is another 4k ish.. |

At 28 years old, that could be a very possible situation. He could have an age related issue that is making it hard on him, or he could just be ready to retire and be a horse. I don't know, but I know that his owners are going to make the best decision for him, and I respect that. |

Dr. Beck here in CA charges a $10k flat rate all inclusive. That gets you a recipient mare 45 days in foal to whatever stallion you choose. |
