| Where can i find the reverse gag that all of the futurity riders are using. I do not want The Ty Mitchell or Brittany Pozzi version. What does everyone think about it? |

Location: Southern Indiana | Are you talking about the one that the Brittany pozzi version copied? If so that's a Dave Elliot spur up. The other version is an lw Kathy James. It has straighter shanks and more gag. |

Location: Some where I haven't left yet | The basic mechanics of the bit isn't any different than many other "gag" bits, it's just putting a new name on it and making sales. ie. please compare this bit to an older Hollis gag, the basic mechanics are the same. |

If she is referring to the "Spur Up" bit it is way different than the old Hollis. I can only speak for Dave bit as I haven't used the James. It has a way different feel to it and the reaction time
is totally different. It has a quick green light action then moves to a drag so to speak. And is a more centered bit. The Hollis had more shank on the bottom and less purchase. |

Location: Oklahoma | I do have a gag bit that I sell, Kathy James, did not know what else to call it, never claimed to be a bit maker and the original is in my tack room and I have no idea where or when I bought it , just too long ago, it was homemade. Yes kinda similar to the Hollis but not the same. I have used that bit as well and it does not work near as smooth as mine, it also has a bit more shank, my basically has no shank. Never even tried to sell it , people just kept wanting them so I have L&W make them for me. As far as making money , dream on , they may be making some, it is not expensive and I am sure it takes some time and decent material to make. I just keep ordering them because people want them , if it works that is wonderful and glad to have helped.

That's where I got mine.........love it! I think most of us call it the Joleen bit......I have heard it was designed by Kathy James.

The Resident Destroyer of Liberal Logic
Location: PNW | It's just a gag bit. There's no "reverse" to it at all. I have several from Dave Elliott, and the gag action has the exact same physics principals as a $20 from JT - just much better feel, craftsmanship, etc. But there's no secret action or mechanism. |

Location: wolverton,mn | The Kathy James has the gag mechanism on front of bit,not in back, that is why it's called " reverse" it is different. You can also get a shorter shank that he makes and prefers on some horses. I find it really odd that on some of these " bit auction" pages on Facebook, someone will bid WELL OVER what you can order a new bit for. I understand wanting one quickly, but it's crazy what people will pay on those auction pages :) |

Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | I have several of the Kathy James versions and LOVE THEM!!! I've also ridden in the Hollis and can promise you they have nothing close to the same feel. Kathy's has a much quicker reaction time. It allows the fastest grab and release of pressure of any gag like bit that I've used. I also bought the BP version of this bit but it didn't feel very balanced to me. The bit itself is too light. Kathy is fantastic to work with as well! |

Shoot! I sold one on FB bit auction a few months ago that was exactly like that. Might be a good place for you to keep your eyes on for one. |

Or... are you talking about the Troy Flaharty bit that everyone and their mother is using now? Troy is affectionately calling it The Duke, since Latricia has been using and ordered so many.
Yea I have the kathy James but everyone and their mother went and bought one from Troy. Are they really any different though....other than craftsmanship of course? |

| How does this differ from other gag bits? Isn't the mouthpiece just sliding in the same side as other gags?

He has a FB page and I sent a message but never got any response from him. Someone told me you have to call his wife and also that he wasn't making the "Duke" bit in the lesser expensive plain model anymore you have to purchase a custom one. |
