| I'm looking into getting a new saddle. I currently have an old Coats that I love. These are the 3 I have it narrowed down to, any one ridden in 2 or all 3 that could make a comparison? Thank you. |

| Are you talking about the Jeff Smith on the BW tree? I have ridden in my friends Jeff Smith and also another friends Tami Semas. Both are very comparable, but I think I may prefer the Jeff Smith over the Semas. Both very, very comparable though.
Posting a picture of the Jeff Smith I rode in for reference.

Wow, that is a classy looking saddle. I would love to be able to afford a Jeff Smith. Maybe when my tax return comes in... (: |

Location: NE Texas | I have both a Jeff Smith and a Coats and I like them both for different reasons, but the Coats is currenlty for sale. The Jeff Smith is high in the front end and rides very blanced, but if you have a horse you really need to get up and jockey, it doesn't allow for that and keeps you more on your pockets. The Coats fits a horse better in my opinion (or mine does), and is lower in the front end. My Coats has a really nice dish in the seat and rides balanced and allows you to get forward and really jockey a horse effectively without getting tipped forward. I love both of these saddles, but have to sell one right now. Considering all of my horses are young and still hip high, the JS puts me in a better position to sit down on them and not get out of position, i'm selling the Coats.

Location: North Dakota | I have a Mary Walker saddle made by Jeff Smith which is built on a buster welch tree.....I love the saddle-great seat-nice swell straight hanging fenders. I rode a local shops saddle that is built on a coats tree-while I really liked that saddle-the only thing I can say about my mary walker is that it definitely has a little more rise and more swell than the one built on a coats tree. I've had a half dozen different saddles in the last 5 years and this is the best saddle I've ever ridden in.-also sending you a PM. |

Location: Deep South | I've rode both a JS and a Coats. LOVE both of them. Currently own a JS, will own a Coats, preferably sooner rather than later. (I see you up there Herbie! Lol!)
Agree with everything Herbie said about them and they're differences. |

Thank you! The one thing I would like to change about my Coats is that it is a little lower in the front end than I like. I will keep it when I get another one, I think it would be nice to have a few different saddles instead of all the same. Maybe I'll look into the Jeff Smith Saddles, just from pictures I think I would like his BW tree barrel saddle better than his Tami Semas. I've heard she isn't very good about working with you also, like if you the saddle doesn't fit or something. That is the nice thing about Coats, they are so so good to work with.

Location: NE Texas | I had my JS saddles made before the Tami saddles were released, so I have never sat in one of hers. I do love my JS saddles though, and wouldn't hesitate to order another one. I will tell you the dark, heavy oil WILL stain light colored jeans though. |

You had that saddle priced extremely reasonably as it was, I had my own version of "buyer's remorse" when I saw that it sold. You know where you DON'T buy something then you are very sad you didn't? Yep, that was me today. Sigh.... |

Yes, but it's a different tree than what my saddle, his regular barrel saddles, or the Mary Walkers are made on. I had my saddle made prior to him making Tami's or Mary's saddles. Mine is a cutter that has been cut down to be single skirted and in skirt rigging, but rides just like his regular cutting saddles do. |

| I have not rode In a Semas but I LOVE MY COATS saddle and do not know if I will ever go to anything else. been through several brands and finally found my "lifer" I think :) I ride several different types of horses and I have great luck fitting. and I like the lower front, helps you get up out of the turn to go with your horse. |

| I personally have rode in a coats, Jeff smith Mary walker and the bw tree and also his wife's saddle line the C3 which is not as common as the marry walker or the Tami semas as they haven't promoted it as much! I perfer a coats saddle especially for a push style horse, it's hand made for one and fits every horse but if I ran more free runner type horse then I would go for a Jeff smith, I personally like his wife and kids line (C3) better than the Mary walker and Bw tree but I haven't yet rode in a Tami semas. His wife's line is both high in front and high in the back they have plenty of pics of there saddles on her personal Facebook (Chery pinkston) she could tell you more about them etc. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | Love my Tami, I love how it makes me ride. Except now I can't ride worth a crap in my CJ Cactus and need to find something that rides like my Tami, but fits almost like a CJ for one of my horses. Ugh.
